According the WHO, Adolescence is defined by the age group of 10-19 yrs. In India, the adolescence population constitutes a quarter of the country’s population which is approximately 243 millions which is turn constituted 20% of world’s 1.2 billion adolescents (UNICEF). Children and adolescents is low and middle in come countries constitute 35-50% of the population (Patel, Fishar, Nikapota and Malhotra, 2008). According to causes 2011, there are 364.66 million youngest in the 10-24 age group, making up 30.11 percent of the country’s total population. Adolescent suffer from psychological problems at one time or the other during their development. Many of these problems are of transient nature and are often not noticed. Some other teachers teach with some age old methods without looking back whether their teaching is effective. Over the years, teachers and researchers have developed and used many techniques, methods and equipments to make the process of learning effective. This process of developing and using scientific methods, media and techniques for raising the effectiveness of teaching and learning is essential for educational technology.

After discussing the impact of philosophy on education and viceversa , we will describe briefly the different schools of philosophy viz. Naturalism, Idealism and Pragmatism, and their implications for education in curriculum, role of the teacher and the nature of discipline. While explaining the ideas advocated by different schools of philosophy on above concepts, this paper will also incorporate the views of both Western as well as Indian thinkers.
