The world with a huge increasing population and simultaneous degradation of land by various means... more The world with a huge increasing population and simultaneous degradation of land by various means is facing a huge hazard in the field of agriculture. The new technology to increase the use efficiency of input is the need of the hour to meet the demand of the huge population. IFFCO has introduced Nano-Urea liquid based on Nano technological research in Nano Biotechnology Research Centre at Gujrat. The new product established itself to be very sound and can substantially decrease the dose of bulk Urea application up to 50%.Various research showed an increasing yield with lesser per area input cost which could enlighten the future of agriculture. After vigorous trial with ICAR, KVKs and SAU"s the Nano-Urea liquid is found very suitable and efficient and got included in FCO list. The agricultural research community cherishing the success for this remarkable innovation and hoping for a bright agriculture ahead with Nano-Urea.

Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR): An Indispensable Tool for Climate-Resilient Crop Production

Plant growth promoting Bacillus subtilis (BS2) was found effective against tomato wilt caused by ... more Plant growth promoting Bacillus subtilis (BS2) was found effective against tomato wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f sp. lycopersici under field conditions. Pretreatment of tomato plants with B. subtilis BS2 significantly induced the activities of defense related enzymes viz., peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, chitinase and phenylalanine ammonialyase and phenolics when challenged with the pathogen. Apart from disease control, BS2 improved the fruit quality with high lycopene (76.30 mg/kg against control, 40.34 mg/kg) and texture (90.5 F max against control, 56.35 F max) during harvest and even 15 days after harvest, similar trend was maintained unequivocally indicating that plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) can improve the nutritional quality as well as shelf life of the fruits.

Being a cool season crop, lentil is very sensitive to temperature during its growth stages. It i... more Being a cool season crop, lentil is very sensitive to temperature during its growth stages. It is found that delayed harvest of the preceding crop which is most frequently rice causes the majority of the country’s lentil sowings to be postponed in India. As a result, the late-sown crop suffers during the seed-filling stage due to the rising high temperatures in most of its cultivated areas and results in lower yield. Therefore, there is a need to work out the optimum sowing time for realizing maximum yield potential as well as the selection of varieties suitable for normal as well as late sown condition of the crop.
A field experiment was carried out in the new alluvial zone of West Bengal at the District Seed Farm of BCKV, Kalyani during the two subsequent rabi seasons (November-March) of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 to examine the difference in yield between normal and late seeding conditions for various lentil cultivars.

Chemical fertilization is one approach to increase crop productivity as happened during the Green revolution. Food grain output in India increased from 115.6 million tonnes in 1960-61 to over 281.37 million tonnes in 2018-19 as a result of chemical fertilization. Given limited land, water, and labor resources, it is estimated that the efficiency of agricultural productivity must increase by 25% to meet that goal while limiting the growing pressure that agriculture puts on the environment. Robotics and automation can play a significant role in society meeting 2050 agricultural production needs. This article majorly focuses on the application of robotics in agriculture, and how it can help farmers by reducing their workload and enhancing their income.
