In contrast, Muslims believes that more than fourteen hundred years ago Islam already provided the best and everlasting ideology for the welfare of humanity. The logic of Islam is based on intervention in the socioeconomic affairs of mankind (Amar Bil Maroof and Nahi Anil Mumkar), while proponents of neoliberalism believes in non-intervention. Using the methodology of library research, this study investigated whether neoliberalism or Islam better serves the greatest interest of the greatest numbers by taking the case of alcoholic drinks. In 18 th century England non-interference in the socioeconomic affairs of mankind created the era of gin craze which is still remembered for widespread corruption and social devastation. The triumph of liberalism over Marxism and Fascism, established the superiority of liberalism which brought history to an end-point of mankind ideological evolution and the universalization of western liberal democracy as the final form of human civilization. Have we in fact arrived at the end-point of mankind ideological evolution? Should we believe that neoliberalism is capable to provide greatest interest to the greatest number. Muslims believes that Islam already provided the best and everlasting ideology for the welfare of humanity. Islam is based on the logic of intervention in the socioeconomic affairs of mankind, while neoliberalist believes on non-intervention. On the basis of alcoholic drinks, this paper on one hand highlighted the relationship between public interest in case of neoliberalism and Islam, while on the other hand it also highlighted the internal contradiction. Results indicate that besides contradiction, neoliberalism is attributable to the greatest harm to the greatest number while in the dogma of Islam there is greatest benefits to the greatest number.

Policy prescription regarding addictive substances is one of the critical issues facing humanity ... more Policy prescription regarding addictive substances is one of the critical issues facing humanity since time immemorial. It is a universal truth that drug adductors are always trouble makers in terms of creating violence, corruption, incest and numerous other immoral and corrupt activities across the globe. In order to formulate the best and universal policy approach, the present study analyzed the policy prescription of economists and different religions. Christian church like the Jews not only permits but encourage the use of addictive substances in their various religious festivals. Mainstream economists case about addictive substances is based on confusion and contradiction. In sharp contrast Islam consider addictive substances as the mother of all evils and ills. Muslim jurists on one side strictly restrict the production and consumption of addictive substances, while on the other side through moral education its use is discouraged.

The ground reality exhibits that there are direct relationship of drug use with violence, corruption, incest and numerous other immoral and corrupt activities. The present study therefore made an attempt to exhibit and highlights the policy prescription provided by economists and different religions. Towards addictive substances the policy prescription of economists are usually based on confusion and contradiction. One group of economists encourages the prohibition of addictive substances, while another influential group propagates the philosophy of lasses faire and market economy. This influential group of economist advocates that all addictive substances should be legalized on the basis of their strength and effectiveness.
