Spain’s prominent feudal Girón family is currently represented by two branches, both of which are... more Spain’s prominent feudal Girón family is currently represented by two branches, both of which are Spanish Grandees, stemming from two twin brothers that were the sons of Pedro Girón, the famous Master of the Order of Calatrava, who was so powerful in his day that he sought to marry
princess Isabella of Castile, who later became the great Queen Isabella of Castile. This is a study of the minor branch, that descends from his son Rodrigo, also a Master of the Order of Calatrava, that later joined with the Morejón family in Ronda with issue in Spain and the Americas, including the dukes of Ahumada and marquises of Las Amarillas. His twin brother Juan Téllez-Girón was the precursor of the counts of Ureña and dukes of Osuna, all of whom are Grandees of Spain.

preserved within the archives of his Philadelphia attorney, at Dickinson College, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and provide rich information on how this man invested not only in his main agricultural endeavors in Cuba, but also in the financial and railroad system of the young United States. The author traces his ancestors and numerous descendants throughout Scotland, Ireland, Cuba, Spain, France and the United States.
His offspring include distinguished military officers, diplomats and business leaders.

Un curioso ejemplo de migración genealógica lo encontramos en la descendencia del zuliano don Seb... more Un curioso ejemplo de migración genealógica lo encontramos en la descendencia del zuliano don Sebastián de Troconis y Urdaneta, que trasladó su residencia desde Maracaibo a Santiago de Cuba por motivos que desconocemos, con una distinguida descendencia que se desarrolló en diversas localidades: Caracas, Santiago de Cuba, New York y España. De ellos descienden una Santa y señalados integrantes de la nobleza española, así como familias destacadas de Cuba y Venezuela, mecenas del arte en Nueva York, e incluso la hija natural de José Martí, y su hijo, el actor de Hollywood, César Romero. El apellido Troconis, muy destacado en Venezuela, procede de Iruráiz, en el partido judicial de Vitoria, en Álava, donde existe una localidad llamada San Vicente de Troconis, con pruebas de nobleza en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid en 1627 (1). Una rama de esta familia se estableció en la ciudad de Maracaibo en la séptima década del siglo XVII, y de allí irradió hacia el resto del país, especialmente los estados andinos y Caracas.
