Information, as well as freedom of expression and freedom of the media are essential for democrat... more Information, as well as freedom of expression and freedom of the media are essential for democratic society and fundamental characteristic of modern states. The year 2020 will be remembered as a year of pandemic caused from Covid-19 (coronavirus) and a year of response to unexpected challenge that the spread of the virus caused. In the times of pandemic and any type of crisis, the media always plays a key role in informing the public all over the Globe. This paper aims to make theoretical descriptive research and analysis of the influence of coronavirus on news consumption, the role of media in communication and presentation of important developments during pandemic. The authors present an overview of the media system and the latest developments in the EU in preventing fake news related to the pandemic. We conclude that media plays key role in informing the citizens during pandemic and therefore they have increased responsibility in providing reliable information. At the same time, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the media have been challenged with parallel outbreaks of disinformation and misinformation about the virus, ranging from fake coronavirus cures, false claims and harmful health advice to wild conspiracy theories. Disinformation can in turn speed up the spread of disease, hinder effective public health responses, as well as create SEEU Review Volume 15 Issue 1: Challenges and Perspectives of Covid-19 44 confusion, fear and distrust. We highlight the fundamental function of creating awareness regarding the topic based on facts, and the need of media for preventing panic and fostering people's understanding by 'checking the source and information twice'.

Isto taka, znaeme deka ovie izbori se ispit za procesot na demokratizacija vo Makedonija. A, deka istite izbori se va'ni za ponatamo{niot proces na integracija na Makedonija vo EU, znaeme navistina dobro. Na raz-li~nite tribini i paneldiskusii, politi~arite i intelektualcite izjavuvaat deka znaat kolku se zna~ajni slobodnite i demokratski izbori vo Makedonija. Me|unarodnata zaednica vo Makedonija postojano se zalaga za fer, slobodni i demokratski izbori. No, do koga i kolku pati povtorno? Vsu{nost, site ve}e znaeme s¯, ili ne? Nikoj ve}e ne mora da go objasnuva poimot "skandinavski izbori# i "evropski standardi#. Zo{to, vsu{nost, skandinavski izbori? Zarem makedonski parlamentarni izbori zvu~i tolku lo{o? Makedonija e gorda na tolku mnogu raboti, kako na nejzinata kultura i istorija, na zemjata i vinoto, no koga stanuva zbor za izbori naj~esto se premol~uva imeto. A, deka vo Makedonija ima{e re~isi fer, slobodni i demokratski izbo-ri mora da bide dovolna pri~ina za da se prodol'i so toa i povtorno da se napravi obid. I navistina, ve}e nikoj ne veruva vo toa deka vo Makedonija nikoj ne znae kako funkcionira toa. Makedonija mo'e samo "da treba i da saka#. Vsu{nost, predgovorot bi mo'el tuka da zavr{i zatoa {to s¯ e ve}e ka'ano i poznato. Za 'al me|u "znaeme# i "pravime# postoi golema razlika. Sigurno sekomu mu ima padnato v o~i deka tonot od Brisel e stanat potvrd. Duri i Oli Ren, koj vsu{nost e poznat kako smiren diplomat, be{e prili~no jasen, re~isi da sakame da poveruvame deka po 17.12.2005 g. izmina rokot na po{teduvawe i ottoga{ site zboruvaat mnogu jasno. Sepak, ma-Abstract kedonskata vlada propu{ti da im objasni na sopstvenite gra|ani deka ne postoi posakuvaniot triskok 2004 -2005 -2011. Sekoj kako da veruva deka s¯ e samo rabota na forma i deka, kade i da e, do 2011/ 2013 god., Makedonija }e stane polnopravna ~lenka na EU. No, za 'al, pome|u se najdoa lokalnite izbori. Tie na Makedonija i nanesoa golemi {teti, no i toa ni e poznato. Lokalnite izbori im gi ponudija potrebnite argumenti na site protivnici na pro{iruvaweto na EU. Izve{tajot na OBSE be{e porazitelen, osobeno zatoa {to od strana na dr'avata ne be{e storeno re~isi ni{to protiv nepravilnostite. Me|unarodnata zaednica ne e slepa i gluva, iako toa mo'ebi nekoi go posakuvaat. Sigurno ne doznava s¯, no porano ili podocna, sepak, re~isi s¯. Dokolku sega, dolgo pred izborite, ve}e diskutirame za toa kako izborite bi mo'ele da bidat manipulirani, a politi~arite se obvinuvaat me|usebno za manipulacija, toga{ toa e ve}e alarmantno! Kade e demokratskata kultura koja{to Makedonija, 16 godini po nezavisnosta, ve}e dolgo treba{e da ja poseduva? Kade se partiite koi{to se rakovodat od ideologii, a ne od li~ni interesi? Kade se politi~arite koi vo centarot na svoeto vnimanie go imaat ugledot i dobroto na sopstvenata zemja? Iako mnogumina zboruvaat za skandinavski izbori, nikoj do sega ne go objasnil potpolno ovoj poim. Dali toa zna~i deka }e bide mirno i studeno na denot na izborite? Ili, dali toa zna~i deka bez razlika koj }e pobedi }e bide prodol-'en kontinuitetot vo politikata (so drugi zborovi nema vedna{ sekoj da bide otpu{ten i na negovoto mesto da bide vraboten drug)? Ili mo'ebi, deka izborite }e bidat tolku fer, slobodni i demokratski {to toa nema da bide ni zabele-'ano? Onoj koj na internet }e go pobara poimot skandinavski izbori na angliski ili na drug jazik nema da najde ni{to. Malku e ~udno iako site zboruvaat za toa. I kaj OBSE i kaj ODHIR ne mo'e da se najde ni{to vo arhivot pod ovoj poim. Sepak, ne{to mo'e da se najde. Taka vo Finska, Island i [vedska ovaa godina se odr'aa izbori i nema negativni naslovi po vesnicite. Duri i ODHIR ne ispra}a svoi nabquduva~i zatoa {to nema (navistina nema?) {to da se nabquduva. The fight against corruption cannot rely exclusively on appropriate formal institutions. It requi... more The fight against corruption cannot rely exclusively on appropriate formal institutions. It requires social support and public engagement, particularly in countries subject to institutional and economic transition. Individuals with a better life condition are more likely to provide this support, as life satisfaction arguably makes people better citizens, more civically committed, and better able to conform to institutional rules. Following this line of argument, we use data from the third wave of the Life in Transition Survey (2015)(2016) to test whether economic wellbeing and life satisfaction are predictors of corruption aversion across 29 former socialist countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Here, corruption aversion means individuals' negative predisposition toward corrupt acts. Both economic well-being and life satisfaction represent indicators of individuals' evaluation of the quality of both the institutional framework and society in which they live and which they wish to have. Preliminary results through a 2SLS estimation report greater corruption aversion among individuals reporting higher economic well-being and higher scores in life satisfaction. Furthermore, probit marginal effects estimations suggest that both life satisfaction and economic well-being increase the probability of an individual reporting a corrupt behavior when they see or experience it. These results are robust to a series of sensitivity analyses.
