The state of abandonment of these buildings, associated with micro climatic conditions, providesan ideal environment for proliferation of these species. This research will enable the relation between these biodegraders agents and the existing pathologies, factors related to the urban development, constructiontechniques and materials, regions microclimate and even the origin of these species, proposing an effective system of control and management.

Another key factor is the lack of relationship of this community with the goods or region to be preserved. Although the discussions about heritage preservation through urban regeneration are increasing and becoming more frequent, is common to see seemingly incomprehensible errors in many recent interventions performed in our historic centers. There are several weaknesses in the way this complex issue is still discussed and its easily noted in the analysis methodology. We know that many of the Revitalization Plans of Historic Centres are designed by political teams, without the effective participation of the local population, and even without specialists in urbanism history and integrated conservation, resulting in little reasoned planes. Cortico e uma habitacao caracteristica de zonas urbanas desfavorecidas, composta por edificacoes ... more Cortico e uma habitacao caracteristica de zonas urbanas desfavorecidas, composta por edificacoes onde os quartos sao alugados para familias, tendo uso compartilhado de banheiros e cozinhas. Em Santos (Sao Paulo, Brasil), o primeiro cortico surgiu no final do seculo 19, e suas principais caracteristicas predominam ate a atualidade. Sao ambientes altamente insalubres para a vida humana, desenvolvimendo deficiencias fisicas e mentais em seus moradores. O objetivo deste trabalho e avaliar o habitat humano no cortico, caracterizado pelas relacoes entre as condicoes arquitetonicas e ambientais. Foram utilizados na pesquisa indicadores e parâmetros sociais e ambientais em 1.497 imoveis, selecionando 57 unidades para a coleta de dados de temperatura, umidade, ruido, iluminacao, e ventilacao, alem da condicao dos telhados, paredes e pisos.
