Governments are using charges or taxes for activities that generate environmental damage. Experiences of green taxes in Croatia and in the countries of OECD, EU and CEE show that they are desirable through more detailed concerns relating to the design and quality/quantity issues. What would an ideal, theoretical environmental tax look like? What is the actual experience of applying green taxes: the case of Croatia. Analysis of taxes implemented in the Croatian environmental policy in the field of environmental protection financing. What are conclusions and recommendations in design and implementation of green taxes in Croatia as useful fiscal instrument in achieving the sustainable development and environmental protection.

The behaviour of this species concerning the motion and burrowing is not enough examined. It is known that the animal moves on the muddy sediment searching for food and for suitable substrate to attach with byssus or to escape from predators. In order to follow the motion and burrowing adult specimens were put on the surface of muddy substrate un an experimetal vessel containing sea water. The length of the track was measured during three days with intermitted leveling of the surface without disturbing the animals. The minimum, maximum and average length of the path after twelve hours was determined, as well as the height and the width of the track and the degree of burrowing. The lengths as well as the height and the width of the track and the degree of burrowing. The lengths of the paths before the first and second burrowing were compared. Light dependency of motion was studied by artificial darkening. The animals were very active regarding to length of tracks. They moved on the sediment surface, burrowing once, after a while coming out of the sediment again and continued to move. Specimens were found with one third to whole body burrowed or not at all. The movements didn't depend whether the animal was primarily positioned on the left or right shell. It was hard to asccrtain the direction of movements, because animal uses already made tracks. It has been shown that the animals react on light and dark, because the movements and the burrowing occur during night time and also during day time if darkened arificially.

High quality education is a very important precondition of country's social-economic development.... more High quality education is a very important precondition of country's social-economic development. In that respect the e-learning becomes a trend in contemporary curriculum. The increased use of ICT and implementation of new pedagogic methods are just some characteristics of presentday educational methods. Contemporary educational methods, which imply e-learning programs as one of ICT usage results, enable students to acquire knowledge from a distant location with or without a mentor. The most remarkable features of e-learning are experience and problems solving sharing with other participants as well as on-line testing. This paper analyses relations between teachers and students activities during elearning and e-learning process in order to constantly improve quality of the educational method on one side and the level of acquired knowledge on the other side. New hybrid educational organization, (classroom education and education in virtual surrounding) in which business processes in educational system are continuously subject to alterations due to better results achievement, is the answer to challenging market and society demands. Sažetak Važan preduvjet društveno-ekonomskog razvoja svake zemlje je visoka kvaliteta obrazovanja. U tom kontekstu e-obrazovanje postaje trend u suvremenoj nastavi. U ovom radu analiziramo odnos aktivnosti nastavnika i učenika u postupku enastave i e-učenja u smislu neprekidnog poboljšanja kvalitete e-obrazovanja kao obrazovnog postupka s jedne strane i razine stečenog znanja s druge strane.

Natural zeolite-clinoptilolite was converted into a near homoionic state in Na, K, Ca and Mg-form by conditioning with 2 mol/L NaCl, KCl, CaCl_2 and MgCl_2 at 70^o C. The total exchange capacity of zeolite samples according to Langmuir isotherm model was determined. Satisfactory conformity between experimental data and the model predicted values was expressed by the correlation coefficient (R^2).

Obrađena je anketa provedena među poduzetnicima (u Hrvatskoj i izabranim zemljama) o njihovom poimanju važnosti i zatupljenosti mjera i instrumenata zastite okolisa i iskoristivosti energetskih resursa.

Therefore Corbula has been proclaimed as a species of wide ecological distribution and an indicator species of environmental instability. Benthic mass mortality in the northern Adriatic Sea in 1989 was caused by lack of oxygen near the bottom layer. Corbula and several oxygen resistant macrobenthic species survived. In this paper we considered the results of Corbula respiration and behaviour studies in order to better understand its survival mechanisms in extreme oxygen conditions.

The paper proposes a new methodological framework for investigating consistency in loan assessment decisions and determinants of loan approval based on structural equation modelling and covariance structure analysis. We focus on a governmental SME loan programme in Croatia and investigate possible reasons for low loan approval rate that occurred in spite of interest rates subsidisation and sufficient supply of the loan funds. The novelty of the methodological approach taken is that it enables simultaneous investigation of the determinants of the loan approval and testing for consistency in the loan assessment decisions, which need not be assumed. We test several hypotheses about consistency in the loan approval decisions and lending preferences in Croatia. The empirical findings reject overall consistency of criteria but indicate a preference toward smaller loans. Among all SME loan requests, banks preferred smaller firms that requested smaller loans. The results suggest that individual banks differ in their criteria and in their loan-size preferences and that there is no positive correlation between the bank's size and its loan-size preference.

The islands are covered with characteristic Mediterranean evergreen vegetation and attract large numbers of tourists during the summer due to their beaches and pristine nature. Only the three main islands are permanently inhabited, supporting a modest tourist industry. The diffuse hotel model ("Albergo Diffuso") is defined as creating visitor accommodation by reusing and restructuring existing houses, which must be located within an inhabited town center and therefore has multifold economic, social and environmental benefits for local communities. The core of the scattered hotel concept envisages its interaction with small village communities. The paper analyzes the socioeconomic and environmental characteristics of this innovative approach to enhancing tourism activities and restoring the valuable cultural, natural, and historical heritage of the Elaphites.
