Assessment of Wastewater Characteristics of Treatment Units in some Hospitals in the City of Basra

This paper presents the results of the flowing water characteristics from the sanitation system s... more This paper presents the results of the flowing water characteristics from the sanitation system studied in targeted hospitals in the city of Basra, Iraq, in four sites from the 1st of December 2021 to the 1 st of March 2022, including two major sites for government hospitals and two main sites for private hospitals. Statistical analysis of a set of physicochemical water quality parameters of flowing water collected directly from hospitals and water flowing before mixing with public sewage was conducted to investigate the efficiency of a hospital wastewater treatment plant in Basra, Iraq. The study concluded that the operational capacity in the selected treatment stations is commensurate with the hospital’s absorptive capacity and that all stations from different global origins operate as efficiently. The efficiency of removing Al–Saadi Hospital is 44.7% higher than other hospitals (Al–sader teaching, Al Mawanee, and Al–Mawadda) the efficiency of removing was (43.06%, 41.35%, 37.73%)...

While there has been considerable research on currency crises, relatively little attention has be... more While there has been considerable research on currency crises, relatively little attention has been given to whether they are successful or not. We investigate this question for a set of 32 emerging market economies for the period 1980–2014. In the literature, many different measures of currency crises have been used, but almost all use some variants of exchange market pressure indices that look at changes in exchange rates, international reserves, and often also interest rates. These vary mainly in their specific specifications such as how to weigh the different variables. Therefore, to check the robustness of our results we use six different specifications. A second type of measure is also sometimes used. These focus only on large depreciations of exchange rates. While often called measures of currency crises they are really only measures of currency crashes. We thus take this approach as a measure of successful attacks. Mike 11 is river modeling system developed by Danish Hydrologic Institute, (DHI). Its performed an implicit finite difference computation of unsteady flow in rivers based on the saint Venant equations. التغيرات الهيدرولوجية في الجزء الادنى من وادي الرافدين أ.م.د حسن خليل حسن المحمود قسم الرسوبيات ا... more التغيرات الهيدرولوجية في الجزء الادنى من وادي الرافدين أ.م.د حسن خليل حسن المحمود قسم الرسوبيات البحرية-مركز علوم البحار- جامعة البصرة- العراق [email protected] الخلاصة تناولت هذه الدراسة التغيرات في كمية التصريف ونوعية المياه في مجاري الانهار والاهوار المرتبطة بها، حيث جرت تغيرات كبيرة في مجمل الظروف الهيدرولوجية للحوض الأدنى من وادي الرافدين (مجاري نهري دجلة والفرات وفروعهما في العمارة والناصرية والبصرة)، وروافد شط العرب الرئيسة (السويب وكرمة علي والكارون)، جرى قياس التصريف وجمع عينات المياه فصليا في اربعة مواقع خلال العام 2011، واجريت التحليلات المختبرية لتحديد الخصائص الكيميائية والفيزيائية للمياه في مختبرات مركز علوم البحار. اظهرت النتائج ان معدل تصريف نهر دجلة في قلعة صالح قد بلغ 41.25 م3/ثا ونهر الفرات في الجبايش 11.65 م3/ثا ، وشط العرب في القرنة 39.65 م3/ثا ، وان نهر كرمة علي يتسبب بفقدان ما معدله 20.1 م3/ثا من شط العرب الى هور الحمار، وتسبب المياه الراجعة خلال فصل الشتاء تملح مياه الجزء الاوسط من شط العرب. كما اظهرت النتائج تباين فصلي ونقص في تصريف المياه لجميع الانهار ...

Impact of Low Discharge and Drought on the Water Quality of the Shatt Al-Arab and Shatt Al-Basra Rivers (South of Iraq)
Low discharge of Shatt al Arab and Shatt al Basra affects water quality and suitability for vario... more Low discharge of Shatt al Arab and Shatt al Basra affects water quality and suitability for various human uses. This study assists discharge and water quality at selected sites in the Shatt al Arab and Shatt Al Basra; during the four seasons of 2009-2011. The results showed the presence of an essential effect of climatic elements on water coming to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The study exhibited an increasing in temperature averages since 1923 which its value had been to be 0.2 degrees Celsius per decade with an increase of 1.7 C o for the period (1923-2009), and decreasing in rainfall precipitation about 10%. So discharge of the two Rivers reduced to 80% of the Tigris River and 25% of the Euphrates River, on this basis the Shatt Al-Basra had been influenced by the hydrological characteristics. The coast is located in the extreme south of Iraq between latitude 29° 49 ´ 000 ´´ and 30° 05´ 012 ´´ N and longitude 48° 01 ´ 006 ´´ and 48 ° 44 ´ 000 ´´ E. This coast consists of a Coastal Sabka which extends about (27 km) towards the north. , covering on area of (736 km2 ), the other part of the study area is tidal flats with a gentle slope toward the Gulf. The length of the tidal flat is 64 km and its width varies with the sedimentation nature, it is 15000 m near the Shatt Al-Arab estuary to 100 m a narrow strip near the southern entrance of Khor Al-Zubair.
