He was therefore torn in between committing the act that the client asked him to and thus go ahead in faking the details of that company so as to make the company and its financial more profitable that it actually was or do away with the decision. Dickson had several solutions to his decision, for instance he thought altering of the information and most probably in undetected away, since our firm is a private company, therefore the adjustments in the accounting will go unnoticed. If he changes the transactions he thought of it as committing fraud and also not acting ethically even though the investors or any other interested might not notice. Therefore, he was able either change the information to depict the company as more profitable or he can just leave the information the way it is. Basing on the ethical judgment of leaving the information the way they were, the client could have probably become furious at him and the whole organization at large, therefore the reputation of the organization might have been at stake. Since the company whom the client was representing might have withdrawn its partnership with our firm and probably could Dickson could have been laid off. Dickson was acted accordingly by notifying the client that he was not in a position to alter the requested changes. This was perhaps the best decisions at hand concerning the moral problem he was facing. Although this decision might have strained the relationship that the client had with our firm, which could possibly tamper with the income that our company was enjoying from the regular services of the company, he was sure that the decision he made was the right one. Using professional ethics, wise judgment and my personal morals not to go by the client's desires. Despite the above, he was able also use the reasoning and simple ethical test to justify the unethical behavior even though he will be acting in unethical manner. Besides, Dickson can basically reason and justify every step of the ethical cycle so as to rationalize why it might be reasonable to make the changes as by the client. Well, his justification would probably be that he will not be caught. Additionally, he might think that the bank loan might further enhance the client's business since securing a loan will enable him expand his business and thus making the company more profitable. Even though he reasoned correctly about the moral problem, he could have chosen the other option anyway. Furthermore, if he had chosen to fake the records, he could try justifying the fact that he was doing it with the consideration that he was in the client's best interest, and insignificant in affecting my moral standpoints as well as his overall ethical behavior since the good outweighs the bad. He can also reason, that it was the correct thing to do since it would have hurt no one In the immediate context. As the chief accountant I always encourage my fellow staff on the importance of the transparency in relaying unethical behaviors. As for the case above, the junior staff involved in the situation was much afraid to reveal what was going on at first, but with closer consultation I gave him, he told me about the moral issue at hand. Since making ethical decisions involves perception and elimination of unethical options while selecting the best ethical alternative. Additionally, a choice producing undesirable and unintended results is ineffective.
