Agostino Regnicoli

Since 1991 Agostino Regnicoli has been a member of the staff at the University of Macerata (Italy), where he collaborated in the activities of LaFoS (Laboratorio di Fonetica e Scrittura) and of the «Progetto Dialetto - Testimonianze dialettali nel Maceratese», editing with M. Pucciarelli the anthology "«… Lì comincia ’na vallata che pare un budéllu…»: testimonianze dialettali delle Alte valli del Potenza e dell'Esino” (San Severino Marche, 2006).
He studied  the dialects of the Macerata area, especially phonetics and orthography and the linguistic expression of space; he edited with C. Babini the collection of essays by Flavio Parrino "Sul parlare maceratese" (Macerata, Edizioni del Gruppo 83, 1996) and revised the orthography of texts in the Macerata dialect in prose, poetry and for the theatre.
His handbook about dialect spelling "Scrivere il dialetto. Proposte ortografiche per le parlate delle aree maceratese-camerte e fermana", published in 2000 by EUM - Edizioni Università di Macerata, ranked second in the "Tullio De Mauro" Section of the National Award "Salva la tua lingua locale 2021" with the motivation «Excellent essay on Marche phonetic orthography, written by a specialist with the very well achieved purpose of being accessible to non-specialists». In 2022 he published the translation into the Macerata dialect of "Le petit prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: "Lu pringipittu, rescrittu co' la parlata de Macerata da Agostino Regnicoli" (Montecassiano, Vydia editore), ranked third in the Published Prose Section of the National Award "Salva la tua lingua locale 2023".
He also edited or revised orthographically several texts in (or about) the dialect of Macerata
