Disarmament is a critical field of present international relations, and analysis of independent e... more Disarmament is a critical field of present international relations, and analysis of independent experts may allow civilian society to maintain an informed control on it. For their educations, since 1966 the International School on Disarmament and Research on Conflicts (Isodarco) has organized international interdisciplinary residential courses on the questions related to arms control. Some 3000 young scientists took part at least in one of the 70 events organized. With its continuing activity, Isodarco contributed to the creation of an international epistemic community in the field of disarmament and arms control.
Nel tragico panorama del 2016, segnato dall'aggravamento delle relazioni internazionali prati... more Nel tragico panorama del 2016, segnato dall'aggravamento delle relazioni internazionali praticamente in tutti i settori, dalla continua strage terroristica, dal divampare o acutizzarsi di conflitti armati in troppi paesi e da enormi nuovi programmi nucleari, l'unica nota positiva è costituita dalla definitiva eliminazione delle armi chimiche dalla Libia, sottraendo così queste armi al potenziale impiego nella guerra civile e nelle attività terroristiche in corso nel paese. Il disarmo chimico delle Libia è passato attraverso più fasi, in corrispondenza all'evoluzione della situazione politica interna e internazionale, e ha richiesto oltre dodici anni e un preciso intervento della comunità internazionale. E certamente a tali armi anzitutto ci si riferisce al punto 4 dell'articolo 2 quando si proibisce la minaccia dell'uso della forza e al punto 1 dell'articolo 11 in cui si affida all'Assemblea Generale il compito di considerare i principi governanti il disarmo e la regolamentazione degli armamenti [1]. These Conferences take place every three years, under the auspices of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation, with the purpose of assessing the current research in the field, critically discussing the prog ress made and disclosing the points of paramount im portance which deserve further investigations. The Conference was attended by about 750 scientists active in the various subfields in which the current research on gravitation and general relativity is ar ticulated, and more than 450 communications were sub mitted. Summary A surface coupling model, able to generate intermediate structures in the nucleon-nucleu... more Summary A surface coupling model, able to generate intermediate structures in the nucleon-nucleus scattering is dealt with. Particular emphasis is given to the case of several interfering resonances, with the aim of reconsidering, on the grounds of a physical model, theR- andS-matrix approach to the problem. In the case of two interfering levels, the pole collision has been investigated by variation of some meaningful parameters of the model. Some examples of actual cross-section analyses are finally given.

We present a scattering-matrix approach for the evaluation of the eigenenergies in closed periodi... more We present a scattering-matrix approach for the evaluation of the eigenenergies in closed periodic systems of quantum dots. The method can be used in a pre-selected window of energies and takes naturally into account the presence of evanescent modes. Together with its counterpart for scattering boundary conditions, it allows for the treatment of closed and open systems in a unique, consistent framework.
