O trabalho estuda a creche Sao Francisco de Paula, primeira a funcionar em turno integral, em reg... more O trabalho estuda a creche Sao Francisco de Paula, primeira a funcionar em turno integral, em regime de externato, no municipio de Pelotas. Busca compreender este espaco dedicado a criancas pequenas e sua relacao com o Estado e a Igreja Catolica. As fontes escritas utilizadas sao os livros de atas da creche. A periodicidade estabelecida para o estudo foi a primeira decada de funcionamento da Instituicao. Identifica-se de forma explicita a influencia da Igreja Catolica na rotina da creche e nas atividades realizadas, em um contexto de preocupacoes do Estado brasileiro com a infância. Essas preocupacoes, contextualizadas em nivel local, permitem destacar a atuacao da Igreja Catolica como mediadora da implementacao das politicas publicas. Sendo assim, a creche Sao Francisco de Paula surge no municipio de Pelotas como um espaco que, ao mesmo tempo, propaga o catolicismo e atende as demandas do Estado. Este artigo observa os espaços de formação organizados pela Associação Sul Rio-grandense de Profe... more Este artigo observa os espaços de formação organizados pela Associação Sul Rio-grandense de Professores nas décadas de 30 e 40 do século XX. Tal instituição foi fundada em 1929 e promovia diversas atividades, dentre elas as atividades de formação. A periodização estabelecida para esse trabalho corresponde às duas primeiras décadas de funcionamento da entidade e as fontes utilizadas são escritas. O argumento fundamental desta reflexão é que a Associação Sul Rio-grandense atendia uma demanda de formação dos professores que não era atendida pelas políticas públicas do Estado. Em conseqüência, as atividades de formação propiciaram legitimidade à instituição, bem como contribuíram para consolidar uma identidade docente coletiva na região sul do Rio Grande do Sul.

Busca analisar elementos do ingresso de mulheres na profissão docente, estabelecendo algumas relações entre o conceito de gênero e o depoimento de cinco professoras, que iniciaram sua atuação no magistério neste período. Entende-se aqui gênero como uma construção social que atende a interesses diferentes em momentos históricos diferentes. Os depoimentos coletados mostram que a construção de gênero das professoras no período analisado atendeu a interesses específicos. Palavras-chave: História da educação; Profissão docente; Gênero.

The main goal of this article is to take some annotations about the performance of the Rio Grande... more The main goal of this article is to take some annotations about the performance of the Rio Grande do Sul State Teachers Association and the Catholic Teachers and Social Culture Association, which used to act in the city of Pelotas since the 1930’s, in the sense of their influence on the teaching force. The temporal design tries to cover the trajectories of these associations from the beginning. The written sources are book of meeting records and registers, and three journals, which uninterruptedly circulated in that period. It concludes that those associations had a relevant role in terms of consolidating teaching profession, had a strong representation, and had a significant contribution to improve teachers prestigious locally.

The book Boletim Vida Escolar: uma fonte e múltiplas leituras sobre a educação no início do sécul... more The book Boletim Vida Escolar: uma fonte e múltiplas leituras sobre a educação no início do século XX (Boletim Vida Escolar: a source and multiple readings about education from the beginning of the 20 th Century), organized by Ana Maria de Oliveira Galvão and Eliane Marta Teixeira Lopes, was recently released and brings together texts from five researchers from the History of Education Study and Research Group of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), written especially for the book. The chapters adopt different approaches to the same subject, the Boletim Vida Escolar, which circulated in Lavras (MG) between May 1907 and November 1908. Studies of educational publications are recurrent in the field of History of Education, since they allow details to emerge of the tensions present in the educational debate. The educational press produced more intensely from the second half of the nineteenth century, especially training material for teachers, considering the limited amount of textbooks available for this function. In the twentieth century the educational press extended its approach and the emergence of publications affiliated with different institutions can be observed. Boletim Vida Escolar fits into this logic, it was a publication of the Lavras School Group, created on May 13, 1907. Its director, Firmino Coast, was also the editor of the Boletim. The publication consisted of four pages, was issued fortnightly, with 34 issues being published in total. The texts presented in the publication were didactic or educational, with some being informative. It should be noted that it circulated in various locations in the municipality and the state, which indicates a wide dissemination of the ideas it published.
