The objective of this work was to set up 23 indicators (11 environmental, 5 socioeconomic , 7 productive) for monitoring MBGI plans at the farm level in Santa Cruz province (southern Patagonia, Argentina). The installation of the indicators was carried out in 39 livestock establishments with ñire (Nothofagus antarctica) forest, based on surveys, satellite images and field sampling. The values of the indicators were transformed to a common scale from 1 to 4 (1 = poor performance, 2 = acceptable, 3 = good, and 4 = very good), depending on the initial situation, the objective of the project, and an optimal value obtained from regional reference situations. The global average value for livestock farms of Santa Cruz with ñire forests was 2.68 points (acceptable-good). While the socioeconomic management capacity indicator presented the lowest value (1.57 points), the best indicator was related to soil compaction (3.68 points). The quantification of these indicators is a tool for determining the baselines at the farm level, providing basic elements for adjusting the management practices implemented in the field.
