It also examines the relationship between autonomy and burnout in the context of EFL teaching. The study participants were 158 EFL teachers from four Saudi universities. To measure teachers' perceived autonomy and work burnout, two questionnaires were administered to the teachers. The results indicate that EFL teachers' perceived method autonomy is high, while both scheduling and criteria autonomy are medium. In addition, EFL teachers' emotional exhaustion and depersonalization are found to be low, whereas personal accomplishment is high. A negative relationship between autonomy and burnout is also found according to the results of the study. The perception of having high or moderate levels of autonomy is connected to lower rates of burnout. According to the results, the autonomy of teachers can be seen as a particular personality trait of EFL teachers that helps mitigate burnout. The findings of this research may be beneficial for language teachers as it can increase their understanding of their own autonomy, burnout at work, and how to enhance these areas based on the suggestions provided.

The present study investigated the relationship between group dynamics (GD) and learners' WTC. A mixed-methods approach involving a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews was utilized to collect data. The participants were 256 female preparatory year students from the science track at a public university in Saudi Arabia. Eight of these students also participated in the interviews. The findings revealed that there was a significant positive correlation between learners' perceived WTC and GD. Moreover, the perceived WTC of learners from level 1 was significantly different from that of learners from levels 2 and 3. The qualitative analysis revealed a set of GD factors that influence the participants' WTC. These factors were organized into three main themes that included nine subthemes. These themes are classmates-related factors, classroom environment factors, and teacher-related factors. The study also suggested some potential implications that can increase GD, which can contribute to enhancing learners' WTC.

That report was later followed by a call for an Educator Standards Board of Education. In 2009, the Educator Standards Board was directed by House Bill 1 to recommend "model evaluation systems for teachers and principals" for their adoption and review. In response to that, The Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) was created and designed by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), to assess the Ohio teachers' performance (Ohio Department of Education, 2017). The Original OTES Framework for 2015-2016 includes two components: teacher performance on standards and student growth measures, each accounting for 50% of the overall structure (Figure 3.5. below). Figure 3. 5. Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) Teacher performance on standards, which is the first component, can be determined by three aspects: a professional growth plan, a midyear review of formal and informal observations, and a final review of formal and informal observations. The processes

As a form of media text, newspaper has a significant role in society as it presents various local, national and international events and information. In order to attract readers' attention, journalists may tend to form headlines to be ambiguous and confusing so that readers become curious to read the whole report. This article addresses the issue of syntactic ambiguity caused by prepositional phrase (PP) attachment in newspaper headlines by analyzing examples of such headlines. After investigating the ambiguity of the headlines, an attention was directed to PP attachment preferences by examining the type of headlines (VP-NP-PP and NP1-NP2-PP structure). The main results were that NP attachment was generally preferred over VP attachment and NP1 attachment was notably favored over NP2 attachment.

EFL Teacher Evaluation: A Theoretical Perspective
Second Language Learning and Teaching, 2016

In some parts of the world and out of all structural elements in institutes of education, teachers seem to receive the least amount of support and/or opportunities to assess their proficiency or to evaluate their teaching skills. Where teachers’ performance evaluation does receive sufficient attention, cases sometimes can be expected where educators might be unaware of the latest up-to-date information concerning the methods that are utilized or the purposes behind the evaluation systems in their context and any policies related to it. The objectives of this chapter are to review and contribute to the current debates on the purposes and methods of evaluating language teachers’ performance.

To fill in the gaps regarding literature, this research paper was designed to explore the views of three Master of Art (MA) TESOL student-teachers on the advantages they gained and challenges they faced during their TP course at a Saudi university. Participants were interviewed, observed, and the two reflective assignments of the course were analyzed to find answers to the research questions. The research questions focused on the instructional benefits of the TP course and the interventions needed to enhance the effectiveness of the course. The findings revealed that the practical teaching component was the most helpful part of the course and the peer-observation report was the most appropriate evaluation method. Moreover, the study found that the limitedness of the teaching timeframe poses a significant challenge, and hence increasing the teaching practice time was the most significant change the participants suggested. Finally, the study recommends interventions that will help improve the quality of the TP course.
