Following the onset of the conflict, Ukraine has increasingly exported grain through Romania, potentially leading to an oversupply in the market and subsequent depression of prices within Romania and at its borders. To investigate this phenomenon, the volume and value of grain imports from Ukraine were analyzed and compared to previous years, alongside the price trends of major cereals in the region. Data on the volume of cereal imports from Ukraine and Romanian exports, sourced from international databases, were utilized in a quantitative analysis to evaluate the dynamics of imports in conjunction with the evolution of export prices for Romania. This investigation offers insights into the potential consequences of the Russia-Ukraine military conflict on Romania's grain trade and the broader implications for regional agricultural markets.

Studies conducted at European and international level have revealed that food waste is being transformed into a phenomenon with disastrous consequences on the environment. This paper aims to analyse the food waste caused by the average consumer, with a special focus on the consumption behaviour that can generate excess and, implicitly, food waste. In this regard, a number of 327 Romanian citizens, between the ages of 18-80, from different social backgrounds, were asked about their consumption habits, about food purchase priorities, reasons and influences in purchasing food, about incomes, socio-demographic characteristics, social environment, level of education, as well as about the perception on the phenomenon of food waste. The research included in this article has confirmed that Romanian citizens are still influenced by the practices of the late communist regime, proving, often, a type of obsessive behaviour in the purchase of food, generated by a fear of food shortages, characteristic of Romania since the end of the 1980 [1]. On the other hand, the research also revealed a new type of behaviour, already existing in the old democratic states, respectively a thoughtful consumption, which does not cause waste, especially among the respondents aged up to 35 years.
