Summary

The Callisto Protocol is a satisfyingly gory spiritual successor to the Dead Space series, but it’s ultimately more of a striking modern mimic than a scary new mutation.

I'm Still Annoyed About The Callisto Protocol

3 months, 3 weeks - If you like this video and would like to see more like it, make sure to subscribe to Eurogamer on YouTube. Why did The Callisto Protocol fail? Despite what was promised, the final game was nowhere near the success Krafton or Striking Distance Studios thought it would be. From the creative mind behind Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol was released in December 2022, but what the game actually demonstrated was how little it understood about what made Dead Space successful in the first place. Zoe Delahunty-Light is still feeling some kind of way about the letdown The Callisto Protocol ended up being, so in this video essay on The Callisto Protocol, she goes into how it lacked the subtlety that something like Dead Space had in spades, and what was going on behind the scenes in The Callisto Protocol to make it a disappointing, mediocre survival horror game. This video was created by Zoe Delahunty-Light and was originally featured on Eurogamer.

Dead Space 4 Could Happen Under New EA Ownership, Series Creator "Making Calls" - IGN Daily Fix

4 months - In today's Daily Fix:Dead Space's original co-creator wants another crack at the franchise. Glen Schofield, who worked on the original Dead Space, thinks it's possible a new entry in the series could happen in light of the industry-shaking EA buyout. In fact, according to Schofield, he's already been making calls to try and make a fourth Dead Space happen. In other news, Quantic Dream has announced a new 3v3 multiplayer game called Spellcasters Chroncles. Quantic Dream is mainly known for single-player narratives like Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain. They also have Star Wars Eclipse still in development, although it's been years since they've shown off anything from that game. And finally, legendary and controversial game designer Tomonobu Itagaki has passed away at age 58. He left a final message on his Facebook page, which was posted in the event of his death. Itagaki was behind the Ninja Gaiden revival in 2004 and the fighting game franchise Dead or Alive. His last game as a director was Devil's Third for the Nintendo Wii U.

Is inZOI The Sims Competitor EA Should Be Worried About? - IGN Daily Fix

1 year, 5 months - The life-simulator inZOI has taken the Internet by storm, with lots of gamers currently hopping into the downloadable character creator demo on Steam. The ultra realistic graphics in this game easily slays whatever The Sims is cooking up, and you can take control of your character like any third-person video game on the market. If you still like the point and click mechanics The Sims is known for, you can still do that as well in #inZOI. There’s gameplay online from a select few content creators who got early builds of the game to play around in, and from what I’ve seen personally I’m impressed. Hyper-realistic graphics, the ability to change anything within the game, you actually have to cook or purchase food in order for your character to stay alive. You can also operate vehicles to navigate the city map - this’ll likely draw Grand Theft Auto comparisons for that sole fact. But the difference is, you have to actually purchase vehicles, so no going up to a random car and slipping in … at least none of the gameplay footage showed that, so unsure what we’ll get or see in the final build. I’m sure there’s a lot of Sims fans out there, but The Sims 4 came out almost a decade ago. There hasn’t been a real competitor to The Sims, and the only other game that seemed like it had potential to dethrone EA’s crowning jewel was Paradox Interactive’s Life By You. Life By You was announced back in 2023 with a rather impressive trailer that showcased its open world environment and all the activities you could partake in within it. But after its early access being delayed twice, Life By You was unceremoniously canceled apparently due to the developers lacking confidence in being able to deliver on what it promised gamers in this life sim.

New PS Plus Titles For October 2023 Leaked - IGN Daily Fix

2 years, 4 months - In today's Daily Fix: It's almost a new month and new PS Plus games are right around the corner. If you can't wait for Sony to reveal what they are, well, a partial list has leaked. According to billbil-kun of Dealabs, PS Plus Essentials subscribers will be getting The Callisto Protocol, Farming Simulator 22, and another game for free. The Callisto Protocol is a sci-fi survival horror game in the vein of Dead Space, and Farming Simulator is...a farming simulator, but it's got a big update coming in November, so now is the perfect time to get your farm up and running. We don't know what that third game is, but expect Sony to make an announcement soon. In Nintendo Switch news, get this: Red Dead Redemption 2 could be coming to the hybrid console. A rating for a Switch version was spotted on the Brazilian government's website, but Rockstar has not made any announcements about a new version. We're definitely interested in what a Switch port would look and play like. And finally, the Payday 3 devs are looking into offering an offline mode after the game's disastrous launch and bad user reviews.
