Alfre Woodard

Summary

Alfre was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 8th, 1953. In 1997 she won an Emmy for her performance as Eunice Evers in the dramatic TV movie "Miss Evers Boys". Woodard received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Martin Ritt's "Cross Creek." Alfre was honored with an ACE Award for her portrayal of Winnie Mandela in "Mandela," starring Danny Glover. Her other starring film projects include John Sayles' "Passion Fish," Morgan Freeman's South African drama "Bopha!," Bruce Beresford's "Rich in Love," and Ron Underwood's comedy "Heart and Souls." Woodard's additional film credits include Lawrence Kasdan's "Grand Canyon," the comedy "Scrooged," "Miss Firecracker," opposite Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter and Robert Altman's "Health." She also appeared in Spielberg's "How to Make An American Quilt".
