Database Application to Manage Health Classes
Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging (MAAA) is a non-profit organization that serves older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers in the Twin Cities metro. ILM was hired to build a web-based database to manage healthcare classes, yourjuniper.org.

“ILM was a true partner during this entire process. They worked closely with our staff to understand our requirements, listened to our feedback during development to make improvements to the site, and delivered a custom application that meets our various needs.”

Building a web-based database application to manage health classes statewide
The Challenge
Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging (MAAA) is a non-profit organization that serves older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers in the Twin Cities metro. MAAA is one of seven Area Agencies on Aging in Minnesota. As part of their services, all of the Area Agencies on Aging serve as organizers for health-related classes in their area. MAAA received a grant to fund the implementation of a software solution for all seven agencies to more efficiently manage information related to class offerings, partner organizations, certified instructors, user information, and federally-required data reporting.
Our Solution
MAAA first approached ILM for assistance with vetting a third-party vendor. After careful review and consideration of the requirements of MAAA, ILM recommended a custom built web-based application that would better meet the needs of the organization at a lower cost with higher security. For three weeks, ILM worked closely with MAAA on requirements gathering and prioritizing features. ILM then spent the next five months building the application, which included an administrator portal, a database, and a public website. A month before public consumption, ILM presented the application to MAAA program developers from across the state to receive feedback, and then made tweaks to the functionality based on their feedback.
The Challenge
After five months of coding, ILM completed work on the application and the website was launched to the public. The website meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at level AA standards, ensuring it is easy to navigate for the site?s intended users. The agencies now have a central location for managing class-related data.
