Transitioning a JavaScript framework from AngularJS to Modern Angular
The Challenge
ActiFi has several application product lines and were operating those using AngularJS but wanted to upgrade them to a modern framework that aligned to their product and business strategy. Doing so would allow their applications to work more in sync with each other, process their data faster, and allow them to develop new features more efficiently. ActiFi also wanted to align their current team and hiring strategy to a more appealing technology stack. ILM took the time to understand where ActiFi wanted to take its product and organization, analyzed their current framework, and provided them with recommendations for the right framework and a 2-staged solution to migrate to it.
Our Solution
Appreciating the importance of security in the financial industry for both ActiFi and their customers, ILM and ActiFi prioritized security as a primary requirement in selecting the optimal framework and how it would be implemented as the current application was migrated as well as when NEW features would be built. The ActiFi development team and ILM collaborated and created a proof of concept to demonstrate the benefits of the new framework. The scope of the project took about 1-year to implement, having 1 dedicated developer onsite to complete the entire process as well as access to a senior architect at ILM. The process included demonstrating the migration pattern by doing the work while demonstrating to the existing team best-practices for developing future applications in the new framework.
Results
ActiFi can now provide faster applications for their customers and have improved speed for releasing new features working with a new JavaScript framework. The great spirit of their stakeholders and onsite developers helped the project succeed.
