Koeli Moitra Goel is a communications and globalization researcher, published author and community organizer who works in the area of Global Studies in Education, International Development, Communication and New Media, Postcolonial Theory, South Asian Studies and Gender Relations in Global Perspectives. Her current research interest focuses on mobile communication, educational technology and media culture in the U.S. and South Asia. She examines how neoliberal dispensations across the world threaten to erode human rights of millions – for example, migrants who are on the move due to political or ecological reasons – thus depriving them of their rights not merely to proper health care, clean air, water, and food, but also access to education, freedom of speech and movement, family life and livelihood.
