The Explorers project, hosted by the International Federation for Public History, IFPH, aims to foster dialogue among historians and other professionals engaged in public history research. Our online platform promotes activities, international debates, and networking opportunities, uniting scholars, activists, artists, and the public. Through Explorers, we encourage research and engagement with diverse public history practices.
The Explorers project, from the International Federation of Public History, IFPH, aims to encourage dialogue between historians and other professionals interested in the investigation of public history. Our new virtual platform promotes international activities and debates and encourages the creation of stories, united with academics, activists, artists and audiences. Explorers stimulates the investigation and compromise with the diverse practices of public history.

Debra Hanna , based in England during her internship, launched a public history project titled Disappearing History: The Medieval Church and Graveyard of St. Laurence to preserve the memory of a historic site near her home. Concerned about its ongoing deterioration, she photographed and transcribed the headstones, creating a digital archive with the aim of submitting a comprehensive survey to a national burial site research database. Her work highlights the vital role public historians play in safeguarding local heritage.
Jason Van Essen began developing an annotated bibliography on public history tailored for English-speaking readers . This ongoing project aims to provide accessible, curated resources that introduce key texts, themes, and debates in the field, making public history more approachable for a broader audience.
Lily Kelly-Clark created the YouTube series Public History Cooked where she explores the rich connections between food, memory, and public history. You can watch the episodes here:

William Pagent created the series The Founding Pubs of Balmain a six-part series that examines how Balmain’s historic pubs helped shape the suburb’s social, political, cultural, and sporting identity. Through historical research and interviews with local publicans, William shows how everyday places can tell extraordinary stories about the making of a community.
