Downtime Planning & CSS
Description:
- Downtime Planning
- Scope Development
- Construction Site Supervision
Project Overview
IFE was engaged by a partner engineering firm to assist a major regional potato processor with downtime planning and scope management during an extended facility shutdown. The focus was on ensuring critical operations remained functional while the plant utility equipment was offline as well as addressing critical project scopes to ensure a successful startup.
Scope of Work & Execution
- Downtime Planning
- IFE collaborated with the client to identify essential operations that needed to remain active during the shutdown.
- Reviewed equipment utility loads, identified isolation and tie-in points, and collaborated with vendors to source rental equipment for uninterrupted operations.
- This planning allowed the facility to continue essential processes, all while being able to shut down utility systems for maintenance.
- Scope Management
- Dryer Modification Scope: IFE coordinated with the client and mechanical installation partners to define required modifications in an ala cart priority list. An itemized estimate from the mechanical contractor enabled the client to select options within potential budget constraints.
- HVAC System Enhancements: Managed rooftop exhaust fan replacements and ducting modifications by collaborating with contractors to establish budget estimates. These estimates were presented to the client for their approval.
- Miscellaneous Punch List: Addressed outstanding items across project scopes to streamline project completion.
Outcome
IFE’s involvement allowed the client to maintain key operations during the shutdown and provided clear management and budget options for critical project scopes, facilitating informed decision-making, and ensuring critical facility updates were executed effectively.
