August 23, 2008

Hello,

TAB is a text adventure/interactive fiction maker for Windows in Alpha Development and made with thinBASIC.

TAB consists of two programs:
The Editor: Create, build and test your text adventure.
The Player: Standalone distributable to play your finished adventures.

The Editor allows you to enter the various types of data the adventure requires such as Locations, Objects, Characters, Messages, Game Settings and Vocabulary and so on…
More importantly it is in here that you can also construct the responses to player commands and build the many puzzles, problems and quests that the player will encounter as he/she journeys through the game world.

How is it possible for them to do this? Quite simply through the medium of computer adventures or interactive fiction stories…
In the privacy of their own homes, at some appointed hour, they will be in front of their PC monitor, switch on and start up or restore their current favourite adventure game.

But just exactly what is a text adventure?

TAB – thinBasic Adventure Builder

August 10, 2008

Hello and welcome to this adventure game blog.

Latest release: Alpha Version 40.2 of TAB for Windows 98/2000/Me/XP/Vista. This release fixes an important flaw in the game logic handled by the #else# coding action. I discovered the anomaly whilst testing some door puzzle code sent to me for checking by a TAB Forum member. The “door_demo.tab” adventure file is included with the release and is a very basic demonstration of interacting with a door object and a key.
