Dr. Miranda is the 2011 winner of the IFFGD Research Award for Junior Investigator – Basic Science. Dr. Miranda’s research interests include: intestinal pain and functional bowel disorders, including understanding how an adverse, early life experience can cause physical changes in the body that can cause painful conditions affecting the digestive tract later in life; and looking at new pathways in the development of pain sensitivity and changes in the structure and function of nerves.

Where is Dr. Adrian Miranda Now?

As a part of the 2021 30th anniversary events, IFFGD created the “Where Are They Now?” interview series designed to allow the gastrointestinal community to reconnect with past IFFGD Research Award winners. We conducted over 30 interviews virtually, to learn about the journey our research winners took and what current research topics they might be working on today.
