I managed to get a copies of issues #69 and #70 of Combat Patrol which came with the sprues for a Goliath Rockgrinder. Good value at £19.98 compared to the list price for the Goliath Rockgrinder which is £42.50.

I decided I would  build this as a Goliath Truck rather than the Rockgrinder. I finished constructing the Goliath Truck and started on the crew.

I gave the truck a white undercoat. My plan was to then spray the underneath with a dark yellow spray, and then the top of the model with a yellow spray. I was planning to do an industrial vehicle look. After I did the dark yellow, I realised I had no yellow spray left. Rather than wait until I could get some new yellow spray paint (my local FLGS had none in stock) I used another can of paint I had on the workbench. This was a dark red colour.

I am thinking that I might try and achieve the effect that GW used on their Necromunda Chronos Pattern Ironcrawler.

I kept the wheels of the truck and gave them a black base coat.

The main weapon I sprayed with Leadbelcher.

Quite pleased with progress.

I assembled three of the truck crew. I decided against having the cupola gunner and assembled the truck with a closed hatch.

I tempoarirly glued them to two pence pieces for ease of painting.

As this model will be supporting my Tallarn infantry, I wanted the crew to fit in. I had bought some Desert Dwellers Heads from Max mini as you can’t get official Tallarn heads from GW.

One of the models had an respirator, so I retained the original head part for that model.

I gave all three models a white undercoat.

The next stage will be using Snakebite Leather Contrast paint as I did with my other Tallarn models.

I was adding the railings to the vehicle and the one of the main weapons.

Though a Genestealer Cults vehicle I am guessing that it can be used by the Imperial Guard or other forces, as it is for intents and purposes an Imperial mining vehicle which has been commandeered by the cultists.

There are two sprues for this model. I have made further progress on the model.

The instructions that came with Combat Patrol are for the Rockgrinder, so I had to go online and find the instructions for the Goliath. The main differences are the front grinder, which I won’t be attaching, and the rear compartment, which is open on the Goliath truck.

Infinitely adaptable, hard-wearing and rugged, the Goliath Truck is a mainstay of the Genestealer Cults. Fast and manoeuvrable, it bounces around the battlefield laying down walls of gunfire, heavy stubbers and autocannons ablaze. Once dedicated to the shadows, the crew manning the Goliath – proudly emblazoned with insignia of the Cult – now do everything in their power to get as close to the enemy, screaming rapidly across even the most hostile terrain to slam open their cargo compartment and disgorge broods of up to 10 scuttling Hybrids.

I am thinking of either painting it as an Imperial mining vehicle, in yellow; or I am thinking it might be a commandeered vehicle for use as a Chimera stand-in for some Tallarn Imperial Guard.
