For the last eight years i work as an underwater archaeologist in the International Center for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar. I'm mostly interested in medieval and post medieval period sites, and especially pottery.For the last few years I focused my work on resolving mysteries concerning underwater sites with piles of ship's ballast.

Not far from the small cape Franina, located in the eastern part of the Croatian peninsula Kamenj... more Not far from the small cape Franina, located in the eastern part of the Croatian peninsula Kamenjak and south of the city of Pula, iron cannons and anchors were discovered on the seabed. Although the existence of a shipwreck at this location has been known in diving circles for a long time, it did not arouse particular interest among archaeologists until now. Regrettably, over the decades the site has been frequently visited by irresponsible, if not malicious, divers who plundered objects from the seabed. Because of this immediate threat, archaeologists from the International Center for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar organized a multi-year research project at this interesting site. So far, the remains of a wooden structure belonging to a ship, three cannons, two anchors and numerous individual finds made of metal, glass and ceramics have been discovered on the seabed, testifying to the equipment of the ship and its cargo. According to the typological characteristics of the finds, the remains of this ship can be dated to the beginning of the 17th century.

Tijekom podvodnih arheoloških istraživanja koja je provodio Međunarodni centar za podvodnu arheol... more Tijekom podvodnih arheoloških istraživanja koja je provodio Međunarodni centar za podvodnu arheologiju u Zadru na području Općine Ližnjan, otkriveno je više tragova brodoloma. Među njima se kao kronološki najmlađi nalaz izdvaja brodolom Uljeva C. Riječ je o skromnim ostatcima tereta i opreme broda koji se može datirati u 17. stoljeće. U članku se opisuju nalazi prikupljeni tijekom triju kraćih kampanja istraživanja novovjekovnog brodoloma te predstavljaju podatci dobiveni analizama. KLJUČNE RIJEČI: Ližnjan; Uljeva; brodolom; novi vijek; brodski teret Traces of multiple shipwrecks were identified in the course of underwater archaeological investigation performed in the Ližnjan municipality by the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar. The chronologically most recent among these is the Uljeva C wreck. The site yielded the recovery of modest remains of a seventeenth century ship's cargo and equipment. The paper describes finds recovered in the course of three short investigative campaigns at the post-medieval wreck site and presents the data obtained through the analysis.

Continued Investigation of the Great Osijek Bridge in Skyllis

Investigation has been continued, following a two-year pause, of the site of the remains of the f... more Investigation has been continued, following a two-year pause, of the site of the remains of the famed Great Osijek Bridge that in the 16th and 17th centuries spanned the swampland between Osijek and Darda. The site is located at the Mala Ðola fishpond in Darda, where the northern terminus of the bridge landed. The investiga-tion was conducted by the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar in the period from 27 to 31 October 2014. Underwater archaeological investigation and an exploration of the embankment on the banks of the pond yielded numerous data critical to elucidating the history of this magnificent structure. An analysis of the wooden elements has produced a clearer picture of the appearance of the bridge, while an analysis of the many finds has provided insight into life on and around the bridge.
