Genetic variation in CC chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5), the major HIV-1 coreceptor, has been shown to influence HIV-1 transmission and disease progression. However, it is generally assumed that the same CCR5 genotype (or haplotype) has similar phenotypic effects in different populations. To test this assumption, we used an evolutionary-based classification of CCR5 haplotypes to determine their associated HIV-1 disease-modifying effects in a large wellcharacterized racially mixed cohort of HIV-1-seropositive individuals. We demonstrate that the spectrum of CCR5 haplotypes associated with disease acceleration or retardation differs between African Americans and Caucasians. Also, we show that there is a strong interactive effect between CCR5 haplotypes with different evolutionary histories. The striking population-specific phenotypic effects associated with CCR5 haplotypes emphasize the importance of understanding the evolutionary context in which disease susceptibility genes are expressed.

Alterations in free and conjugated polyamines (PAs) and the enzymes involved in their biosynthesis, namely arginine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase and S-adenosyl methionine decarboxylase have been reported to occur during cell division, growth, embryogenesis and rhizogenesis in an array of plant materials. However, the relationship, if any, between them and all these processes has not yet been established. It seems that specific PAs at specific concentration ranges are required during critical stages of growth and morphogenetic events. Furthermore, the effects of PA biosynthesis inhibitors vary considerably at different developmental stages of the same tissue. The present review deals with the available information about the possible role of PAs in aforesaid physiological processes.

The availability of expressed sequence data derived from gene discovery programs became an alternative source of mining simple sequence repeat (SSR) and developing inexpensive genetic markers for the crop improvements. In present study, 10 express sequence tags (EST)-SSR markers were identified from Bambusa oldhamii public sequence data base. Transferability to 25 species of Bambusoideae ranged from 30% to 100%. The number of alleles detected per locus ranged from 2 to 10. All the newly identified SSR markers were found to be moderately to highly polymorphic with an average Polymorphic Information Content (PIC) value of 0.54. As these loci represents transcribed region and recorded high level of cross transferability and reliable amplification across the species, demonstrating the utility of these markers for functional and genetic analyses of bamboo species.

Expression of CC chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5), the major coreceptor for HIV-1 cell entry, and its ligands (e.g., RANTES and MIP-1␣) is widely regarded as central to the pathogenesis of HIV-1 infection. By surveying nearly 3,000 HIV؉ and HIV؊ individuals from worldwide populations for polymorphisms in the genes encoding RANTES, MIP-1␣, and CCR5, we show that the evolutionary histories of human populations have had a significant impact on the distribution of variation in these genes, and that this may be responsible, in part, for the heterogeneous nature of the epidemiology of the HIV-1 pandemic. The varied distribution of RANTES haplotypes (AC, GC, and AG) associated with population-specific HIV-1 transmission-and diseasemodifying effects is a striking example. Homozygosity for the AC haplotype was associated with an increased risk of acquiring HIV-1 as well as accelerated disease progression in European Americans, but not in African Americans. Yet, the prevalence of the ancestral AC haplotype is high in individuals of African origin, but substantially lower in non-Africans. In a Japanese cohort, AG-containing RANTES haplotype pairs were associated with a delay in disease progression; however, we now show that their contribution to HIV-1 pathogenesis and epidemiology in other parts of the world is negligible because the AG haplotype is infrequent in non-Far East Asians. Thus, the varied distribution of RANTES, MIP-1␣, and CCR5 haplotype pairs and their population-specific phenotypic effects on HIV-1 susceptibility and disease progression results in a complex pattern of biological determinants of HIV-1 epidemiology. These findings have important implications for the design, assessment, and implementation of effective HIV-1 intervention and prevention strategies.

indicate an important role for monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1; also known as CC chemokine ligand 2), a potent chemoattractant and activator of mononuclear phagocytes (MP) in the pathogenesis of HIV-associated dementia (HAD). We determined the influence of genetic variation in MCP-1 on HIV-1 pathogenesis in large cohorts of HIV-1-infected adults and children. In adults, homozygosity for the MCP-1 -2578G allele was associated with a 50% reduction in the risk of acquiring HIV-1. However, once HIV-1 infection was established, this same MCP-1 genotype was associated with accelerated disease progression and a 4.5-fold increased risk of HAD. We examined the molecular and cellular basis for these genotype-phenotype associations and found that the mutant MCP-1 -2578G allele conferred greater transcriptional activity via differential DNA-protein interactions, enhanced protein production in vitro, increased serum MCP-1 levels, as well as MP infiltration into tissues. Thus, MCP-1 expression had a two-edged role in HIV-1 infection: it afforded partial protection from viral infection, but during infection, its proinflammatory properties and ability to up-regulate HIV-1 replication collectively may contribute to accelerated disease progression and increased risk of dementia. Our findings suggest that MCP-1 antagonists may be useful in HIV-1 infection, especially for HAD, and that HIV؉ individuals possessing the MCP-1 -2578G allele may benefit from early initiation of antiretroviral drugs that effectively cross the blood-brain barrier. In a broader context, the MCP-1 -2578G allele may serve as a genetic determinant of outcome of other disease states in which MP-mediated tissue injury is central to disease pathogenesis.

The successful completion of this project was a unique experience for us and we achieved a better knowledge about Online Marketing in India. Internet marketing is emerging as an integral part of business strategies in today's technologically advanced world and the business activities all over the world are influences with the emergence of this modern marketing tool. This dissertation is aimed at exploring the patterns of Dubai business organizations in adopting Internet Marketing. In this regards a quantitative study is conducted among 200 firms of Dubai investigating them about the level that they have reached in utilizing Internet Marketing and to have a look at the effects drawn on their product development and pricing policy effecting from the consumer research that these firm conduct through Internet Marketing. The dissertation presents a view of the current trends and situation of Dubai business world with respect to adoption of Internet Marketing with the help of information gathered from secondary as well as primary sources. Moreover the dissertation also examine weather the business managers and owners of Dubai firms are adequately prepared to face the challenges of the highly competitive environment resulting from Internet Marketing and other technology implications or not. Since financial disclosures are really an important information to communicate with the stakeholders, there was a basic flaw in the process where ad-agencies have to communicate all the relevant information to the investors. But Without a complete understanding of these financial disclosures communication of these results to investor groups would not be precise or qualitative.

Effective communication can be defined as the central lifeline for any organization as it allows the leaders to drive the change, shape the expectations and do the work around core purpose and the common message. While managing the workforce geographically a proper strategic communication program can easily strengthen the project and also support its success. From the case study, it was observed that AusElec is one of the biggest electronic companies in the Australia and recently a new project has come up which is called as the Hytrans where, most of the team members are located in the different time zones around the globe. It is very much important to develop an appropriate communication plan so that the project cn be carried out in the most appropriate manner. The communication plan will start with the evaluation of the current communications that exist in the company. Currently the company uses the traditional ways of the communications with the team members like face to face meeting, hard copies, reports, memos which has to be changed as the tram is not at one place it is scattered all around the globe. After this the main objectives related to the project will be identified so that everyone in the team knows what has to be done and what communication can be done in order to do the projects in most effective manner. After this, the goals will be defined in terms of the deadline for the projects that have to be done according to time and with proper co-relation to each other in the most appropriate manner. The most important part of the communication plan will be the creation of the consistent schedule as it can be seen that due to different time zones, it will be very difficult for the team members to be present at one time to discuss about the project. It is very important for the leaders to make sure that the meetings are very much consistent so that all the remote employees can come together. It has been seen that having a meetings in both formal as well in the informal ways is very much critical for fostering team cohesion. In this, the office timings of all the team members can be noticed and the common time as per the different time zone can be selected and meetings can be done so that everyone can be brought together and discuss about the particular project in most important manner. Next part is the selection of communication tools so that every one in the meeting can listen and see each other.

In-plant training is one of the requirements for the award of the Degree in Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering of Maharashtra Institute of Technology. As such, students are required to write and submit reports at the end of their training.
This report is the record of the work I personally did and experience I gained during my in-plant training at Varroc Engineering Ltd. Plant- VII (valve) from 4th Jan to 16th May 2018.
It consists of six chapters which altogether explain the background of training, entail background information about Varroc Engineering Ltd., Manufacturing processes, Inspection and Testing, the hands-on activities which I took part in and about the project I did on tooling cost reduction by optimizing the design of bottom die holder.
