Building a Better Future

The Western Joint Electrical Training Society

The Western JETS was formed in 1969 with the purpose to assist, develop and foster Apprenticeship and further training of Red Seal Electricians. This organization is a partnership between IBEW Locals 230, 993, 1003, and the CLR Electrical Division.

The Western JETS is responsible for the training of the electrical specialists employed by all signatory contractors of IBEW Locals 230, 993, and 1003 covering Vancouver Island, Northern BC and Yukon, and the Kootenay region.

We believe through continuing education, our members and contractors will achieve the highest levels of quality, skill, value and integrity in the electrical industry.

Some of our in-person courses include but are not limited to:

  • Conduit Bending
  • Electric Vehicle Supple Equipment & EV Energy Management Systems
  • Fiber Optic Splicing
  • Fire Alarm
  • FSR Code Update
  • Installation of Photovoltaic Systems
  • Low Voltage Cabling
  • Wood Frame Residential Wiring

Western JETS also has several online health and safety training courses. In addition, IBEW Local 230 Training Centre delivers pre-apprenticeship and post-journey electrician courses for work performed in the residential/commercial/institutional and industrial construction, marine, high-voltage, security and environmental controls industries. We also offer several construction safety courses. This platform of courses is delivered in concert with the Western Joint Electrical Training Society.
