
Arun Somani
Arun K. Somani is Anson Marston Distinguished Professor, Philip, and Virginia Sproul Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and is serving as Senior Associate Dean for the College of Engineering at Iowa State University. His research interests are in the design and implementation of scalable and dependable high-speed high-performance computing and networking systems, optical fiber networks, critical infrastructure protection, image-based navigation, and neural architecture search methods. He has published more than 400 technical papers, several books and conference proceedings, and 12 patents. He has supervised more than 125 graduate students’ dissertations and theses and mentored many undergraduate students.Professor Somani has served as IEEE distinguished visitor and tutorial speaker, editor of several prestigious IEEE and Elsevier Journals, and has delivered several tutorials and keynote and distinguished and invited talks all over the world. He is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Distinguished Engineer of the Association for Computing Machinery, and an Eminent Engineer of Tau Beta Phi. He received Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship for his graduate work. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India.
