Vladimir G Grinkov
I entered the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University in 1991. I were specialized on the department of the “Evolution theory and the Darwinism’ problems” (this is the old name of the department of biological evolution), assuming engage in population biology of birds. In 1996 I graduated with honors from the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University and in the same year entered the postgraduate course of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow University. In 1998 I received the honorary title of Soros graduate student. In 2000 I defended Ph.D. thesis "Conditions for the stable maintenance of the phenotypic population structure illustrated by the variability in the breeding plumage color in males of the pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca pallas)". Currently, I continue to work at the Department of Biological Evolution of the Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University.
My scientific interests were formed on the basis of the enthusiasm for ornithology, which arose in the years of primary school. In the student years, this enthusiasm was increased by a serious interest in population ecology. Most of my research can be attributed to evolutionary ecology. In the framework of this very large section of modern biology, the main areas of my research are primarily concerned with the study of mechanisms for the emergence and maintenance of stable adaptive polymorphism, the regularities underlying the evolution of the life cycles of birds, and in broader sense the mechanisms of allopatric and sympatric speciation.
In addition to research, I conduct lectures and seminars for students of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University (special courses: "The Origin and Evolution of Higher Vertebrate Animals," "Fundamentals of Evolutionary Biology," a seminar on the course "Evolution Theory"). All the information about my scientific work, teaching and working with students can be found on the site of “ISTINA MSU” (https://istina.msu.ru/profile/vgrinkov/).
