The study population for the Content Analysis comprised all the editions of The Sun and Daily Trust newspapers between the stipulated dates above which amounted to 181 editions per newspaper summing up to 362 editions for the two newspapers. The In-depth Interview, on the other hand, comprised the journalists who work with The Sun and Daily Trust Newspapers. Thereafter, a sample size of thirty- one (31) editions of The Sun and thirty-five (35) editions of Daily Trust making a total of 66 editions for both newspapers were selected for the Content Analysis. For the In-depth interview, the sample size was four. These are: Editor Daily and News Editor for The Sun and Managing Editor and News Editor for Daily Trust newspapers. The study was anchored on Framing Theory, while Content Analysis and In-depth interview research methods are used as the method to carry out the study. Using coding sheet and in-depth interview guide as the instrument of data collection, the study found out that the two newspapers used political frames more than any other frame in the coverage of Benue killings and that the reason the newspapers organizations used news content more was the convenience or low financial cost of news gathering, compared to other formats. The study also found out that all the editors did not have any specialized knowledge or template for the coverage of conflicts and that frame sources used most by the selected newspapers in the coverage of the Benue killing is own correspondent, followed by government and local news agencies. The study however concluded that the factors that influenced newspapers framing of the Benue killings are: Ethical code, Access to information, Production deadline, and Editorial policy, Magnitude of event, Social responsibility, and official sources. It was therefore recommended that media organizations should ensure that they follow international conventions and best practices in the coverage of conflicts and that the media in Nigeria need to engage new information technology and its platforms such as YouTube, Skype and others to gather contents from inaccessible conflict zones, instead of over dependence on government sources.
