{"id":78,"date":"2024-05-27T21:32:24","date_gmt":"2024-05-28T01:32:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/htmlformsplugin.test\/?p=78"},"modified":"2024-06-13T10:13:39","modified_gmt":"2024-06-13T14:13:39","slug":"creating-first-form","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/htmlformsplugin.com\/kb\/creating-first-form\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating Your First Form"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After installing and activating the <a href=\"https:\/\/htmlformsplugin.com\/\">HTML Forms<\/a> plugin, you should have a menu item in your WordPress admin labeled <strong>HTML Forms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create your first form, go to the\u00a0<strong>HTML Forms<\/strong>\u00a0menu and click the <strong>Add New<\/strong> link. You can also go to the <strong>All Forms<\/strong> link and click the <strong>Add New Form<\/strong> button at the top of the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose a name for your form and hit the <strong>Create Form<\/strong> button. You will now be taken to the form editor, where you can actually configure your form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Defining Form Fields<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This part is what makes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.htmlformsplugin.com\/\">HTML Forms<\/a>&nbsp;special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your actual form fields can be defined using normal HTML. That means you can use regular&nbsp;<code>&lt;input&gt;<\/code>&nbsp;elements to define what fields your form should contain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only thing of importance here is that each of your input elements should have a unique&nbsp;<code>name<\/code>&nbsp;attribute if you want HTML Forms to save the value of that field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t Know HTML?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don\u2019t know what HTML is, you can also use our field helper to generate field HTML.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"966\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/htmlformsplugin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/field-editor-966x1024.png\" alt=\"Field editor feature found in the HTML Forms WordPress plugin.\" class=\"wp-image-82\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The great thing here is that you don\u2019t have to choose yet another template language. Using our field helper should even help you learn HTML for yourself. Win-win!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submissions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By default, HTML Forms will save each successful form submission in your database.
