Sign-Ups Are CLOSED for another year!

hp_halloween sign-ups for 2019 are open once again! You have until Noon on Sunday, October 6 to enter into the HPH fray! closed for 2019. See you on Halloween for reading and commenting!!

Note: Sign-ups remain open until a final reply to this post is made by a mod. This usually works in latecomers' favour. So, no need to ask - if there's not a "closed" post at the end of sign-ups, throw yours into the mix..

Hola, all! lore, starduchess, and shadowycat are back for another spooktastic exchange! Please read the full community profile page, because we always add some additional notes and you can easily view the timeline. It's a lot to read, but you will have a much easier time with this exchange if you know what to expect and what's expected by your participation.

Be sure to spread the word that sign-ups are open to your flists and any newsletters or new pockets of HP fandom that you follow on other social media sites. This is a lightning-fast exchange, which means you'll have about two weeks to write - that's only 100 words a week, with drabbles due October 25! We also take all genres, thus the repeated call for flexibility in the community profile. Remember, this is a 200-word drabble exchange that will be posted with reveals on Halloween.

Guidelines for Joining
Sign up by adding a comment to this entry with all questions in the text box below answered. You're signing up to both request a Halloween-themed drabble and to pledge to write one for someone else. The "Halloween theme" can include the season (fall/harvest), related holidays (example: Samhain, All Saints Day), traditions, etc.

Clearly but concisely state what you would like to receive and what you're willing to give by answering the questions below in your reply. Use the "Any other comments" line for anything you think we didn't cover in the questions. You are only allowed one sign-up comment, as the point of this exchange is to be flexible. If you find your sign-up reply becoming a wall of text, this might not be the exchange for you.

Please use the full name of a characters. This goes double for Next Gen because of all the repeated names. You can name your OTP if you desire, but your author is not required to write it. If you would like to request an object or animal that can be personified as a character, such as the Sorting Hat or Crookshanks, we'll allow two such choices to be named in your limit of 6.

Requests may be made for up to three simple Halloween-themed prompts. Writers do not have to use all of those, but they do have to include at least one.

Gen means General and it is your friend if you only prefer one kind of relationship. You are asked for two relationship types. If you only want to see one kind of romance, include Gen to accept a general drabble with no romance.

If you don't list who you wrote for last year, you might be assigned to them again this year. If that's OK with you, it's certainly OK with the matching mod!

One last time, flexibility is key in this exchange. People who will accept any gift or write any genre will be our heroes!.

Mod will monitor the sign-ups and ask you to make changes if you fall outside the guidelines. This is to keep the playing field fair for all.

Your reply here should contain the following, copy and pasted into the reply:

Please remove the information in parenthesis () when you reply. Also, be sure there's a space between all the colons and what you write. Finally, please don't strip the "bold" tags from your reply. lore's old eyes rely on the format for matching. We hope to see many ANYs in the sign-ups!

Rules: Please read the full rule list here. These are the highlights.

1. You must be 18 years of age or over and confirm this in your single-reply sign-up.

2. All gift drabbles must be emailed to the mod account by October 25. The mods check for length, etc. See the profile for more details. Please be prepared to receive your drabble back with any requests to cut length or make edits during the week before Halloween.

3. All gift drabbles must be 200 words exactly. We do check word counts.

4. Gifts must be marked with appropriate warnings. All entries will be placed under a cut.

5. Drabbles may not portray people under the age of 18 engaging in sexual acts.

6. Please code your story text for bold, italics, underline, etc, and with the appropriate header information, which will be in your assignment email. If you aren't certain if your coding is right, try your submission in your own journal before sending it in to see how it will post. The only way we post 50 drabbles in a day is if you help us with proper coding.

7. Send drabbles to the mod email account in text-only format. If you need help with this, ask and you will receive it.

There is a feedback rule instituted by the original mod, and we will continue to honor it: If you don't have anything nice to say, then please don't say it. This is a gift community not a forum for criticizing others' work. If you have a real problem with something someone wrote, then please get in touch with the mods first. We do check drabbles against your request. We also strongly encourage you to reply to your gift.

Please friend the community for updates and to see the drabbles! No need to become a member, we don't post anything locked.

If you have questions, email us at hphmods @ gmail.com (no spaces). If you don't have a LiveJournal or DW, you can use one of the many log-in options that LJ offers, or you can post anonymously. Just be sure to leave us an email where you can be contacted with your assignment or other questions. Mods will unscreen anonymous sign-ups.

Thanks, everyone! We can't wait to see how you all will spook the bats in our belfry this year!

love, HPH Mods
