I'm reccing it because it's great meta on my favorite relationship to come out of the movie, that of Bruce Banner/Hulk and Tony Stark/Iron Man, and why they worked so well when I'm sure no one gave them a thought going in. Everyone was focused, going in, on Steve&Tony or Thor&Loki or even Natasha&Clint. But now, I want to see more of Bruce&Tony, and I suspect I'm not the only one.
On that account, I normally don't go in for drug humor, but: And You Wonder Why We Ain't Got Nothing to Say. In which Bruce and Tony get completely stoned and play Tic-Tac-Toe while arguing science and philosophy, much to everyone else's consternation.
I went and re-read Night Watch after ToT and understood a couple little things better. Still a damn fine read, that book.
Am currently nearing the end of Unseen Academicals. Glenda Sugarbean--who's played by Helena Bonham Carter in my head (seriously, who else?)--rocks. I mean, she ( spoilery-type cutCollapse )
with Discworld! Vimes keeps being played by Simon Pegg in my head, which, IMHO, is just as it should be. He can do the kick-ass thing, as he proved in Hot Fuzz, and also the "the world is definitely out to get me" thing, as evidenced in practically everything else he's done. I love the whole Watch, that crazy bunch of misfits, especially the women.
The male characters aren't slouches, either. Well, Nobby and Colon are, but we'd love them less if they weren't. Lord Vetinari is so very cool, even if trusting him is an impossibility. Plus, Gaspode? I don't think it's just the dog lover in me that adores him. (He's voiced by Burn Gorman in my head.)
So, definitely getting more Discworld. I've almost finished the Watch novels (just have The Truth to go, I think), and I've also read Mort and the first of the Witches books. Have I mentioned lately that I love my Kindle?
My goodness, this was beautiful! And it feels like something Lewis could have written….or at least, something he would have thoroughly approved of. Thank you for writing this, and for sharing it!
