Kant on Intuition: Western and Asian Perspectives on Transcendental Idealism, 2019

Mou’s critique is actually an attempt to defend the Confucian concept of intelligible intuition, which is fundamentally different from the concept of intellectual intuition in Kant. This paper will vindicate this claim by showing that the Confucian account of intelligible intuition is actually admissible in Kant’s philosophy. This will be done by a Kantian interpretation of a few relevant concepts in the teachings of Liu Zongzhou. The finding will illustrate the context within which the Confucian account of intelligible intuition should be understood.
