Title: Proofreader

Certified Proofreader Overview

I am just the proofreading expert you are looking for! Why, you may ask? I have over twenty years of experience in teaching English and social studies, where I have proofread and edited hundreds–if not thousands–of papers, essays, textbooks, and curriculum!  I have always had a sharp eye for detail, a love for words, and a proofreader’s heart; however, now I am able to dedicate myself fully to proofreading and editing as I have left the teaching profession.

In the education field one must:

  • Have excellent communication skills in speaking not only with students, but colleagues, parents, and other community members
  • Be flexible and able to adapt at a moment’s notice with minimal disruption to the lesson or school day

  • Collaborate with students in improving their writing skills which include grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and tone

  • Gain expertise in using Microsoft Word and “Tracking Changes” tool for edits and comments, and/or Google Docs and “Comments

I believe all of the skills listed above give me a particularly unique competency that other proofreaders may not have.  These skills enable me to proofread a four-to-five page paper in approximately two hours, depending upon the number of errors. As for my education and training, I recently earned my Certificate of Completion from Proofread Anywhere, and have a B.S. degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from Indiana State University, which I earned in 1995.

Let's schedule a quick, ten-minute introductory phone call so that we can discuss your project in more detail, and to ensure that I would be the perfect fit for your needs.  I am looking forward to hearing more about your project, and how I can be of help to you!
