Why Helvar ActiveAhead?
Award-winning wireless lighting controls
User-friendly setup and operations
ActiveAhead Nodes offer automatic operations based on occupancy, daylight, DALI-2 panel inputs and default lighting scenes. Modifications and additional configurations are done using an easy-to-use mobile app at any point in time during the lifetime of the installation.

Energy efficient buildings
The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) highlights the importance of networked controllable solutions for renovations. ActiveAhead brings maximised energy savings with integration and reporting capabilities to continuously optimise a building’s performance.
Simple and fast installation
Luminaires fitted with ActiveAhead are extremely easy to install. Just fix the luminaires to their intended position and switch on the mains. No control wiring is needed. Standard DALI luminaires and devices only require a short DALI cable to the independently installable ActiveAhead Node. This Node powers the DALI communication line, which reduces the number of required devices to minimum.

Future-proof
Connect ActiveAhead with Helvar Insights to enable cloud analytics and help improve wellbeing, efficiency and sustainability. Take advantage of rich lighting solution data, such as occupancy and energy usage, and integrate with other technical building systems using BACnet. As needs evolve, ActiveAhead can be flexibly expanded with features, products and integrations over the lifetime of the installation.
ActiveAhead System Overview

ActiveAhead Nodes form a scalable Bluetooth Mesh network, to which Nodes can be added at any time. This makes it easy to plan and implement projects in phases, optimising construction work and minimising space downtime. Depending on the application and project-specific needs, an installation can consist of wireless ActiveAhead luminaires and/or standard DALI luminaires. A wide selection of luminaire-based Nodes, with or without integrated sensors, is available to build wireless luminaires. These wireless luminaires require only mains power. DALI luminaires, as well as DALI-2 sensors and panels, are supported by the independent Nodes, making it truly flexible to select devices based on the desired aesthetics and functions.
The ActiveAhead mesh network has no borders; consequently, Nodes can be grouped where and when needed without requiring gateway devices. Each ActiveAhead Node can belong to multiple groups, allowing the creation of overlapping groups. Each group has a specific group member light output level, enabling optimised energy savings—for example, in long corridors and open-plan areas—while keeping configuration simple. Corridor hold offers comfort for meeting rooms and additional configuration options for aisles in car parks and industrial premises.
Environmental sensors provide further sensing capabilities, which can be used to optimise not just lighting, but also other technical building systems. ActiveAhead installations can be connected to Helvar Insights for cloud-based additional services. Integration with a building management system is achieved by adding the ActiveAhead BACnet Gateway.
