Digits Changelog
Connected Invoices Now Appear in the Invoicing Board
What's New: Invoices synced into Digits through Connect, including integrations like Bill.com and the Open API, now appear alongside Digits-created invoices in the invoicing board.
Connected invoices are marked with a source icon so you can easily see where they originated.
Why It Matters: The invoicing board now provides a more complete view of outstanding accounts receivable. Instead of switching between systems or reconciling separate invoice lists, you can see both connected and Digits-created invoices in one place.
Configurable Quality Control Checks
What’s New: Digits Quality Control lets you create financial checks by describing them in plain English. Digits turns your instructions into a reliable check that runs automatically on every transaction — new, edited, and historical. Before anything goes live, you can review what Digits understood and preview exactly what it would flag.

See Quality Control for more information
Why It Matters: Quality control should be flexible enough to match how you work and consistent enough to trust every close. Digits uses AI to understand your check, then runs it with logic that stays the same every time. Approved checks don’t change between runs or require manual review each month. Create a check once, and it runs the same way on every transaction, forever.
New Firm Dashboard for Client Work Management
What's New: The Firm Dashboard now includes a new list experience that gives accountants a firm-wide view of client work in one place.
View action item counts across five categories: Setup, Comments, Book, Reconcile, and Report. Search, filter, and sort clients based on where attention is needed most. Click any action item count to jump directly into that client's checklist at the relevant section and time period.
To view the new dashboard, click the List View icon in the upper-right corner of the Firm Dashboard.

For more information, see Understanding Your Firm Dashboard
Why It Matters: Instead of opening clients one by one to see what needs attention, you can quickly identify bottlenecks across all of your clients, prioritize work, and jump directly into the right task from a single view.
Digits MCP is now available in ChatGPT
What's New: Digits MCP is now available to all users through the OpenAI marketplace, making it easy to connect ChatGPT directly to your Digits data.

Why It Matters: Ask questions about your finances directly in ChatGPT using real-time data from Digits. Your AI workflows can now access the same live financial information available in your ledger, without switching between tools.
Automatic Check Image Extraction and Matching
What’s New: When a bank statement containing check images is imported (via Connect, manual upload, or email) Digits now automatically extracts those images and saves them to Vault as individual files.
Digits then attempts to match each image to its corresponding transaction in the Ledger. For matched transactions, Digits uses the details from the image (payee, amount, memo) to improve the suggested party and category. Unmatched images remain in Vault and can be linked manually.

Why It Matters: By automatically extracting and matching check images, Digits improves transaction classification and creates a cleaner audit trail across statements, documents, and ledger activity.
Removed Bank Transaction Import Limit
What's New: We expanded bank transaction imports beyond the previous 200-line limit. Previously, large files had to be split manually and uploaded in batches. Now you can import bank transaction files of any size in a single step.
This update currently applies only to bank transaction imports. Journal entry imports are still limited to 200 lines, with improvements coming soon.

Why It Matters: Importing historical bank transactions used to mean splitting large files before you could even begin. Now you can upload everything at once and keep moving.
Automated Schedules, Built into the Ledger

What's New: Digits Schedules automates depreciation and amortization for fixed assets and prepaid expenses directly inside the ledger. Select an eligible transaction, choose your schedule type, and Digits pre-fills the assumptions. Review the draft, adjust anything you need, and finalize. All journal entries post immediately across the full life of the schedule.
See: Schedules
Availability: Digits Schedules is now available in our Digits for Firms offering. Speak with our solutions team to automate your accrual workflows inside the ledger with Digits.
Why It Matters: Month-end close has always required someone to maintain a separate workbook for every asset and prepaid on the books. Digits Schedules eliminates that entirely, keeping every schedule live inside the ledger where it belongs.
Reopen Checklist Tasks
What's New: You can now reopen tasks from the Done section if they were marked complete or dismissed by mistake.
This applies to tasks in Book, Reconciliation, and Reports.

Why It Matters: Fix mistakes without recreating work. If a task was closed too early, you can bring it back and continue where you left off.
Digits iOS 1.3: MFA, invoices, and bill capture improvements

What's New:
Added support for multi-factor authentication during sign-in, including authenticator codes, recovery codes, clearer retry states, and better handling for expired or locked challenges
Added line-item accounting dimensions for ledger invoices, so invoice products and line items can carry income category, department, and location details
Added a richer Bills empty state with direct actions to scan a bill, choose from Photos, or upload a PDF/image file
What's Improved:
Bill capture has been polished end to end, with smoother scan-to-review animations, clearer progress, and extracted values flowing into the bill detail header
Bill capture review now makes extracted fields easier to inspect, with focusable highlights and draggable field tags
iPad bill capture now better targets the split-view detail area during transitions
Invoice product selection now carries over saved accounting details, and new products can save their accounting defaults
Accounting pickers now scroll to the current selection, making category, department, and location edits faster
Bill detail headers now support vendor icons and a more dynamic visual treatment
Checklist quality-control reviews now combine related transaction issues and close related review items together when resolved
What's Fixed:
Magic-link and password login now pause correctly for MFA instead of treating MFA challenges as failed sign-ins.
Checklist loading avoids redundant refreshes while a matching request is already in flight.
Document feature mapping now supports multiple feature groups, improving extracted bill field and line-item association.
Includes smaller visual polish, reliability improvements, and generated API updates needed for the new invoice, MFA, and bill capture behavior.
Why It Matters: More secure access, better invoice accuracy, and a faster bill capture workflow.
You can move from scanning a bill to reviewing and categorizing it with less friction, while keeping accounting details consistent across invoices. Download the App
Multi-Account Bank Statement Import
What's New: You can now import transactions from specific accounts within a multi-account bank statement and reconcile all of them from a single file.

Why it matters Multi-account statements no longer need to be split or uploaded separately. Select the accounts you want to bring in and handle everything from one place, saving time during reconciliation.
Download Reports with Attachments
What's New: When downloading reports, attachments are now automatically bundled into a single ZIP file alongside the report PDF. Reports without attachments are downloaded as PDFs.

Why It Matters: Previously, attachments had to be handled separately. Now everything travels with the report in one download: cleaner handoffs, fewer missing files, and no extra steps to gather supporting documents.
Native Invoicing in the Digits Ledger
What’s New: Invoicing is now built directly into the Digits ledger.
You can now assign categories and dimensions at the line item level, giving them far greater control over how they track revenue.
We’ve also redesigned the invoicing workflow to make it faster and more intuitive—from creation to delivery. Less context switching, fewer steps, and a cleaner experience overall.

Note: Currently rolling out to new customers and those not yet using invoicing. Existing customers will be migrated over the next few weeks.
Why It Matters: Revenue data now lives in the same system that processes the rest of your books. That means cleaner reporting, more consistent categorization, and less manual cleanup later.
Digits iOS 1.2: Shortcuts, Reports, & Checklist Improvements
What’s New:
Added Siri Shortcuts for common Digits workflows, including opening Checklist, Bills, sent invoices, and overdue invoices
Added Spotlight integration so indexed Digits items can be found more easily from iOS search.
Added full report package PDF downloads, replacing single-statement export behavior for report packages.
Expanded Checklist with Urgent items, quality-control review support, and richer transaction review context.
Added in-app statement uploads from checklist items for auto-reconciliation.

Improvements:
Improved offline behavior across invoices, checklist, documents, and cached session state
Disabled network-only actions while offline and added clearer offline messaging where relevant
Refreshed home screen icon colors and improved visual accents in action item details
Improved invoice loading with cache-first behavior and cleaner refresh handling
Updated abbreviated currency formatting to use small-caps suffix styling
Fixes
Resolved issues with Terms of Service prompts appearing offline
Improved invoice discount handling so invoices and line items follow the one-discount rule
Removed noisy slow-connection banner behavior
Included bug fixes and stability improvements across navigation, sharing, checklist, reports, invoices, and cached data flows
Why It Matters: Faster access, better visibility, and more reliable workflows on mobile.
You can move through core tasks like reviewing transactions, uploading statements, and accessing reports with fewer steps, even when offline.
Firm Branding Across the Client Experience
What’s New: Firms can now apply branding across client-facing experiences in Digits.
Note: Firm Branding is available to eligible Digits partners based on their partnership agreement. If you don’t see this option in your settings, please reach out to your Digits contact for more information.

When Firm Branding is enabled at the organization level, your logo and theme color appear in places like report covers and the app footer for your clients.
To enable, go to Firm Settings → Branding.
Why It Matters: Your firm’s branding now carries through to client-facing experiences, not just your internal profile.
Improved: Sync Investment Accounts via Your Plaid Connection
What's New: Digits' Plaid connector now supports investment accounts. You can add investment accounts when setting up a new Plaid connection or when adding them to an existing connection for any institution that supports them.

Note: There is a known issue with Mercury that may prevent some investment transactions from syncing. We’re working with Plaid and Mercury to resolve it.
Why It Matters: Investment activity can now be included alongside your existing accounts, giving you a more complete view of financial activity in one place.
Digits MCP is now available
What's New: Connect your ledger to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and any other MCP-compatible AI tool. Query your real financial data directly from the AI tools you're already using. Digits models your books as structured objects, so AI can reliably surface vendors, transactions, and categories from your actual ledger.

Setup takes minutes: add the connector, authenticate, and you're live.
Click here for full Setup instructions.
Why It Matters: Most accounting systems are only up to date after someone clears the bank feed or syncs disparate systems, which means the books, and any AI running on them, are always behind. Digits auto-books and reconciles 95%+ of transactions, so Digits MCP lets AI tools query clean, current financial data from the start.
Automated bank recs now fill gaps automatically
What's New: Automated Bank Recs now handle gaps between reconciled periods and new statements more clearly.
If there’s a gap between your last reconciled date and a newly uploaded statement, Digits will automatically create a draft reconciliation to fill that space.
For example, if your books are reconciled through January 31 and you upload a March statement, Digits will:
Create a reconciliation for March
Insert a draft reconciliation for February
This keeps your timeline continuous and avoids confusion during first-time reconciliation.

Why It Matters: Reconciliation timelines stay continuous, even when statements are uploaded out of order. No gaps to track down, no confusion about what’s been reconciled.
Ability to Delete Synced Transactions
What's New: Transactions synced via Connections such as Plaid, Stripe, or QuickBooks Online can now be deleted directly in Digits.

Deleted transactions are permanently removed and won’t be re-synced.

Why It Matters: This makes it easier to clean up duplicates or incorrect data.
Ask Digits Keeps Your Context in View
What’s new
Ask Digits now makes it easier to stay oriented while you work.
Search results stay pinned When you ask a question, your search results remain visible at the top of the panel, so you can reference them alongside the AI response.

Recent pages at your fingertips Ask Digits now shows your recently visited pages, so you can quickly jump back to where you were without retracing your steps.

Why It Matters: You no longer lose context while working in Ask Digits. Search results stay in view, and your recent pages are always within reach, so you can move faster and stay focused without repeating work.
Digits iOS 1.1 Polishes Navigation and Detail Views
What's New: Digits iOS 1.1 is out with a broad polish pass across the entire app. This includes:
Dashboard metric cards for connected accounts and data sources, with time-series views
In-app flow for updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Richer, more consistent detail screens throughout the app
Improved bank account and credit card drill-downs
Cleaner navigation, with period selection moved into the navigation bar
Expanded party-role support and routing
Clearer reconciliation checklist views
More reliable refresh, deep linking, and offline messaging

Why It Matters: The app feels faster, clearer, and easier to navigate. Key information is easier to find, workflows are more intuitive, and the overall experience is more reliable wherever you’re working.
Improved: Checklist Period Timeline Selector
What's New: Checklist task counts in the sidebar now reflect all tasks across time, regardless of your selected period.
Your timeline view continues to show tasks by the selected month, quarter, or year, so you can focus on a specific period without losing visibility into the overall workload.
We also now automatically select the first period with assigned tasks, so you can jump in without adjusting filters.

Why It Matters: It’s easier to understand what needs attention at a glance. You get a clear view of total work while still being able to focus on a specific period, without confusion from shifting task counts.
We've Moved Our Changelog
What’s New: Our changelog now lives here in the Help Center.
If you’re subscribed via RSS, you’ll need to resubscribe using the new feed to keep receiving updates.

Why It Matters: Keeping the changelog in the Help Center makes it easier to find updates and stay in sync with what’s new in Digits.
A Clearer Path Through Your Checklist
What’s New: We've made a couple of updates to Checklist.

Setup and Collaboration are now combined into a single Urgent tab. This brings connection issues and open questions into one place, so you can quickly address anything that might block your close.
The Monthly Accounting section is now called Close, with clearer steps:
Book
Reconcile
Report
The date picker now appears in the header of the main task list, making it easier to navigate between periods as you work.
Why It Matters: We’ve simplified Checklist to reduce tabs, group related work, and make it easier to focus on what needs attention so you can move through your close more efficiently.
More Control Over Your Connected Accounts
What's New: You can now archive or delete individual accounts within a Plaid connection.
Archiving stops new data from coming in while keeping your existing data intact. Once archived, you can then delete the account to remove its data from your ledger entirely, including transactions in closed periods.
Each connection also shows when data was last synced from the source.

Why It Matters: Connected accounts change. Businesses close accounts, switch banks, or just need a cleaner ledger. Now you can handle that directly in Digits without affecting the rest of your connection.
Firm Dashboard Updates
What's New: The firm dashboard has a few small changes worth knowing about.
Client cards now show the plan each client is subscribed to. Hover over the icon to see the details.

Copying the ingest email now requires clicking the icon directly. A confirmation appears when it copies. This makes it easier to open the entity without triggering a copy by accident.

The org selector has been removed from the header. You can now switch orgs from the picker in the sidebar only.

Why It Matters: Plan visibility is now right on the dashboard, so you don't have to dig for it. The sidebar org picker keeps navigation consistent. And the tighter click target means fewer accidental copies when you're moving fast.
And finally… What is a tornado's favorite game to play? Twister
Digits, now on iOS 🚀
What’s New: The Digits app is now available on iPhone and iPad.

For the first time, you can run your business from anywhere with full access to your live financials. Check your cash, approve and pay bills, send invoices, capture receipts, and upload documents, all in real time.
With Ask Digits built in, you can also ask questions about your business and get instant answers, without running reports. This isn’t a companion app. It’s the full Digits experience, redesigned for mobile.
Download the Digits app on the App Store →
Why It Matters: Your work doesn't happen in one place, and now neither does your accounting.
Instead of waiting to get back to your desk, you can act the moment something comes up. Approve a bill at lunch, send an invoice right after work is done, or check your numbers before a meeting. Work gets handled as it happens.
The result is less backlog, faster decisions, and a business that stays up to date.
Work Ahead with Future-dated Transactions
What’s new: You can now create future-dated transactions in Digits.
Add them manually or import them into your existing workflows.

Once a future-dated transaction exists, the period selector will automatically update, allowing you to navigate to future periods.

Why It Matters: Plan ahead and stay proactive. With access to future periods, you can prepare work earlier, keep things moving, and avoid waiting on dates to catch up.
Documents is now Vault
What’s New: We’ve renamed the Documents tab to Vault.

This update better reflects what the space is designed for: a secure, centralized place to store and access your files inside Digits.
FAQs Has anything changed besides the name? No, functionality remains the same. Do I need to take any action? No action is required. Your documents are right where you left them, now in Vault.
Why It Matters: Vault isn’t just a list of documents. It’s where your important files live, organized and accessible when you need them. The new name brings more clarity to its purpose and aligns with how teams actually use it.
Client Removal Now Preserves Data
What’s new: Removing a firm-paid client no longer deletes their data.
When a firm removes a client, we now:
Disaffiliate the client from the firm
Move them to the Core for Business plan (they’ll only be charged once they log in and add billing)

FAQs Can the firm choose a different plan when removing a client? Currently, no. Clients are defaulted to Core.
Can the client choose a different plan? Currently, no; however, they can reach out to support to downgrade to Essentials after billing is set up, if they'd like
What happens if a client with no assigned users is disaffiliated? The client organization and legal entity are orphaned but will remain in the system.
Why It Matters: You can safely remove clients without risking permanent data loss. Clients keep access to their data and can transition smoothly to their own plan, reducing friction for both firms and operators.
And finally... Why don't scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything.
Introducing Checklist: your new home for getting work done in Digits
What's new: We’re replacing Inbox with something more structured, more collaborative, and built for how accounting work actually gets done.

Instead of chasing tasks across tools or threads, everything is surfaced in a clear, step-by-step workflow.
Take an interactive tour here!
What you’ll see in Checklist
Setup surfaces connection issues that could affect your books, like disconnected bank feeds or incomplete account setups. If something breaks, you’ll see an action item here so you can fix it before starting your close.
Collaboration brings every comment across Digits into one place, including transactions, bills, categories, and reconciliations. Review and respond without digging through individual records.
Bills & Invoices shows bills that need approval. Review, approve, reject, or delete. Once approved, bills are automatically recorded in the Ledger.
Book highlights transactions that still need categorization. Digits handles most automatically, and flags anything uncertain for review. Confirm the suggestion or update it before finalizing.
Reconcile surfaces anything that needs attention during close, including missing bank statements or accounts that require review after AI reconciliation.
Report is the final step in the monthly close. Review, finalize, and publish reports. Once published, they’re ready for clients to view.
Why It Matters: Checklist shifts your workflow from reactive to structured. Instead of managing work through an inbox, tasks are organized, owned, and surfaced at the right time. That means fewer surprises, less back-and-forth, and work that moves forward with clarity and momentum.
Start Over, Without Starting from Scratch
What’s New: Both accountants and operators can now start over on a client or business without impacting billing.
This gives you a clean slate, restarting onboarding while keeping your existing subscription intact.
How to start over: Accountants: Go to Firm Settings → Clients, select a client, and click Start Over
Operators: Go to Settings → Subscription, open the Manage menu, and click Start Over

What to Expect:
All existing data and connections will be removed
You’ll go through onboarding again
Billing stays the same
The entity remains on the same plan
Why It Matters: You can reset and rebuild cleanly, without needing to recreate billing or set up a new subscription.
Financials Now Download as PDF or XLS
What’s New: In Financials, you can now download each report as either a PDF or XLS. This includes Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, AR Aging, and AP Aging.

Note: When you download the Financial Package in Digits, the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement are now included as PDFs instead of XLSX files. The package still includes a Trial Balance in XLSX and a Transaction List in CSV.

Why It Matters: You can choose the format that fits the job—PDF for polished sharing and presentation, or XLS for deeper review and analysis.
Unified Navigation Across All Account Types
What’s New: Operators now see the organization picker in the top menu—just like firms do. Previously, operators didn’t have an org picker and instead saw all of their businesses in a single flat list. Now the menu is hierarchical, with your organization at the top and your businesses listed underneath.

Why It Matters: This is a big improvement for operators with multiple businesses—it’s easier to navigate and scale. It also fixes an edge case where operators who also had another account type (like a demo, firm, or developer account) sometimes didn’t see “Add a Business.” Now the correct option shows up reliably based on what you’re doing.
Introducing Digits Essentials 🎉
What’s New: Digits Essentials is now available, built specifically for solopreneurs and early-stage businesses.
This plan includes access to most of the powerful features available in Digits Core, with a lighter feature set designed to keep things simple and affordable.

For businesses that need custom dashboards, integrations with tools like Ramp, BILL, Stripe, and Rippling, or dimensions (departments and locations), Core remains the best fit.
Why It Matters: Essentials gives smaller businesses access to AI-powered accounting without paying for features they don’t need yet, making it easier to get started on Digits and grow into more advanced capabilities over time.
And finally… I used to work for an origami company… …but they folded. 🥁
Ask Digits Just Got Smarter
What’s New: We’ve upgraded Ask Digits based on how customers are actually using it.
✅ It can search your data more intelligently. Ask questions like: “Which restaurants have we ordered from on Uber Eats in the last 6 months?”
✅ It understands context. Ask things like: “Walk me through the highlights on this page.” Ask Digits now knows where you are in the product and responds accordingly.
✅ It’s more conversational. We’ve improved how Ask Digits responds to feedback — it’s more helpful, more natural, and less robotic.

Why It Matters: Ask Digits isn’t just a chat box — it’s your AI teammate. These updates make it faster to explore your data, easier to get answers in context, and more intuitive to work with day-to-day.
Payroll Connections Expanded with Finch
What’s New: You can now connect payroll data via Finch from 18 supported providers:
ADP Run
ADP Workforce Now
AlphaStaff
Counter Point HCM
ECCA
Heartland
OnPay
Paychex Flex
Paycom
Paycor
Payday Payroll
Paylocity
Proxus HR
QuickBooks Online Payroll
Sequoia One
Square Payroll
TriNet HR Platform (fka Zenefits)
UKG Pro

A payroll provider I need isn’t listed. Can I request it? Yes! Through Finch, we have access to additional providers with more involved onboarding requirements. If you’re willing to test with us, let us know—we’re happy to explore enabling it.
Why It Matters: This significantly expands payroll connectivity in Digits—making it easier to sync payroll data from the providers you already use. We’ve prioritized providers Finch identifies as most compatible to ensure the best experience possible.
✨ Smarter Departments & Locations
What’s New: For accounts that use Departments and Locations, Digits will now automatically suggest and fill these dimensions on transactions.

Why It Matters: This reduces manual tagging and helps keep dimensional reporting consistent. Digits learns from your existing patterns (including imported dimensions) and only fills departments/locations when it’s confident—so it won’t guess when things are unclear.
Edit Imported Departments and Locations
What’s New: You can now edit departments and locations (dimensions) that were imported into Digits from external sources like QuickBooks Online, Gusto, or other data connections.
To make changes, hover over a department or location and click

Why It Matters: Imported dimensions no longer have to stay exactly as they came in. You can adjust names or structure to better match how you manage reporting inside Digits—without being locked into your source system’s setup.
AI Executive Summary Now Available to Everyone
What’s New: The AI writing assistant for Executive Summaries is now available to all users. To use it:
Go to Custom Reports
Click + Run Report
Choose Executive Summary
Click into the Executive Summary text box at the top of the report
In the editing toolbar that appears, click the Digits logo to generate an AI-written summary
You can provide bullet points, draft notes, or guidance on tone, and the AI will turn it into a polished summary based on the text you include.
Note: The AI refines the content you provide. It does not automatically pull financial data into the summary.

Why It Matters: Drafting clear, professional report summaries just got faster. Whether you start with rough notes or structured bullet points, you can quickly generate client-ready insights—without spending extra time rewriting.
Collapse Ask Digits When You Need More Space
What’s New: You can now collapse Ask Digits into the bottom-right corner of the screen. By default, Ask Digits stays expanded in main views and automatically collapses when you open a details view—but you can also choose to keep it collapsed in both main and detail views.
To collapse it, hover over Ask Digits and click the > button to the right of the search bar.

Why It Matters: This gives you more room to focus on your work while keeping Ask Digits easily accessible. Your preference is saved in your browser, so it stays just the way you like it.
New: Starter Plan for Firms
What’s New: The Starter for Firms plan is now available for all new and existing Digits Partners. Priced at $35/month, Starter includes everything in Ledger Only, plus the ability for clients to view their own financials.
The Starter plan now appears when adding a new client alongside Low Volume, Ledger Only, and Digits Core. Partners with existing Low Volume or Ledger Only clients can also upgrade those clients to Starter by following the directions found here.

Why It Matters: Starter gives firms a new middle ground—keeping books fully managed by the firm while giving clients visibility into their financials, without moving all the way up to Core.
Cleaner Headers, More Room to Work
What's New: We streamlined headers across Digits. They’re now two lines instead of three—with a sticky top bar and a second bar that scrolls with the page—so you have more space for your work.
Dashboard views have been moved into a dropdown in the left sidebar, rather than at the top of the Home page.

Why It Matters: You get a cleaner, less crowded workspace and more screen real estate for your data. Moving dashboard views to the left nav also makes it easier to switch contexts without losing your place or competing with date controls.
Company Information Now Available via API
What’s New: The Digits API now includes an endpoint to retrieve company (entity) information for the account you’re connected to.
Why It Matters: This makes integrations more powerful and reliable by providing clear context about the business behind the data. It also unlocks smoother setup and data mapping for current and future integrations.
Learn more in the API docs: https://developer.digits.com/
Uncategorized Transactions Now Surface as Action Items
What’s New: Transactions marked as “Uncategorized”—whether ingested that way or manually flagged—will now correctly create action items and appear in your Inbox. Previously, manually flagged uncategorized transactions were treated as high-confidence and didn’t surface for review.
Note: This applies to newly ingested or newly flagged transactions going forward. Existing uncategorized transactions aren’t retroactively added as action items.

Why It Matters: Uncategorized transactions won’t slip through the cracks anymore. Anything that still needs a category will now be flagged clearly, helping you keep books clean and close-ready.
Clearer Connections Navigation + Faster Bank Search
What’s New: We updated the Connections experience to make it easier to find what you need. The left sidebar now groups connections into Banks & Cards, Payroll, Bills & Expenses, and Revenue. Within Banks & Cards, you’ll also see a list of commonly used institutions (powered by Plaid) so you can connect faster.

Why It Matters: Less hunting, fewer clicks. You can jump straight to the type of connection you’re setting up—and quickly spot popular banks and card providers without needing to search from scratch.
Associates Can Now Be Invited Before Adding Clients
What’s New: Firms can now invite Associates to join the firm before any clients are added. Previously, only Admins and Account Managers could be invited at this stage.

Why It Matters: This makes it easier to onboard your full team from day one. Associates can get access to the platform right away and explore Digits, and once they’re assigned to a client, they can start working—without any extra setup.
Client Pays Is Now Available for All Firms 🎉
What’s New: Firms can now choose Client Pays when adding a new client. With Client Pays, the client pays for their own Digits subscription, while the firm still has visibility into the account and setup status. After you send the invite, the client completes onboarding by entering payment details and connecting at least one financial account to activate their account.
Note: Client Pays is only available for new clients and only supports the Digits Core plan.

Why It Matters: You can keep your existing workflow—your firm runs the books in Digits—while giving clients a straightforward way to pay for their own subscription.
Lastly…What do you call a snake that is 3.14 meters long? A pi-thon 🐍🥧
Check Images Now Match to Ledger Transactions
What’s New: When you upload a check image to Documents—or email one into Digits—it will now automatically process the check details and match the image to an existing ledger transaction, if one is found

Why It Matters: Attaching check images to the right transactions just got easier. Instead of manually hunting for matches, Digits helps connect supporting documents automatically—keeping your ledger cleaner and your audit trail stronger.
Easier Statement Reference During Reconciliations
What’s New: When reconfiguring a reconciliation, you can now more easily reference the relevant bank statement directly in the flow.

Why It Matters: This makes reconciliation updates faster and less error-prone, so you can confirm details and make changes with confidence, without jumping between screens or hunting for the right statement.
Trial Balance Now Available via Digits Connect API
What’s New: The Digits Connect API now supports retrieving a Trial Balance statement.
Why It Matters: This makes it easier to pull trial balance data into external systems, automate workflows, and keep financial data in sync—without manual exports.Learn more in the API docs: https://developer.digits.com/
Import Transactions from Bank Statements
What’s New: You can now import transactions directly from bank statements (PDF, PNG, JPG, and JPEG), not just CSV files.

Why It Matters: This makes it easier to get transactions into Digits when a CSV isn’t available. Just upload the statement you already have and keep your books moving. No manual conversion required.
Improved: Faster Bank Reconciliations for Large Statements
What’s New: Automated bank reconciliations now support much larger statements (up to ~450 pages, increased from the previous ~150-page limit). We’ve also improved processing speed, so large statements reconcile faster and more reliably.

Why It Matters: Whether you’re dealing with high-volume accounts or unusually long statements, reconciliations are now smoother, faster, and less likely to hit limits, saving time and reducing manual work.
Invite Colleagues Before Adding Your First Client
What’s New: Firms can now invite colleagues to join as Admins or Account Managers before adding their first client. Invites are sent from Firm Settings (not from a demo). Once invited, each teammate can create and use their own demo client from the firm dashboard.

Why It Matters: This removes a common setup blocker and makes it easier to onboard your team from day one—so you can get roles and access in place before you start adding real clients.
Cost of Revenue Dashboard Added on Home
What’s new: The Home page now includes a Cost of Revenue dashboard view, separate from Expenses. We also renamed Overview to Highlights, since Expenses, Revenue, and Cost of Revenue each have their own Overview section—and we wanted to avoid confusion.

Why it matters: Separating Cost of Revenue from Expenses makes it easier to understand your margins. And the new Highlights name makes it clearer what you’re looking at on Home, especially when the other views have different layouts and sections.
Ask Digits Now Cites Help Center Answers
What’s new: Ask Digits now references and cites Help Center documentation when answering questions about the Digits platform. Responses are scoped to your context—firm or business—and new Help Center content becomes available to Ask Digits as soon as it’s published.

Why it matters: You get clearer, more trustworthy answers backed by official documentation—right when you need them. Over time, this also means faster self-serve support and fewer “where do I find that?” moments as Digits evolves.
Flexible Dates Across Digits
What’s new: Date selection is now fully flexible across Digits—not just in Reports. You can choose a day range, as-of date, month, quarter, year, or custom range across dashboards, financial statements, AR/AP reports, the ledger, and more.

Why it matters: You can now get the exact numbers you need for any point in time—without exporting, doing manual date math, or jumping between pages.
Billing Addresses for Digits Subscription Sales Tax
What’s new: Starting 12/15, we’re collecting billing addresses to calculate sales tax on Digits subscriptions. During onboarding, you’ll be prompted to add a billing address, and you can view or update it at any time in Firm Settings or Business Settings under Subscription.

Previously onboarded operators and accountants will be taxed on their subscription using their payment method ZIP code until a billing address is provided.
Why it matters: This helps Digits charge the correct subscription sales tax based on your billing address.
Smarter Default Dates for New Transactions
What’s new: We’ve updated how Digits selects the default date when you create a new transaction. Instead of always defaulting to the last day of the previous month (the old behavior), new transactions now default to the last day of the period you’re currently viewing. If that period ends in the future, we’ll default to today instead.
For example:
Viewing Q3 2025 → default date is September 30, 2025
Viewing Q4 2025 → default date is today
When duplicating or reversing a transaction, the date will always default to today.

Why it matters: This makes it easier to keep transactions aligned with the period you’re working in, while avoiding accidental future-dated entries. You get smarter defaults that match your workflow—and less manual date editing along the way.
Drag & Drop Straight Into Ask Digits
What’s New: You can now drop files anywhere on your screen, and Ask Digits will instantly catch them and send them to Documents. A new visual overlay guides you as you drag, uploads show progress right in the bar, and you’ll get a notification with a direct link once your file is ready.

Why it matters: Uploading documents just got effortless. Whether you're reviewing transactions or reconciling accounts, you can drop files from anywhere and keep moving. No extra clicks, no breaking your flow. Digits handles it in one smooth motion.
Improved: Export Reconciliation Reports to PDF
What’s new: You can now export reconciliation data as a PDF. Generate a report for a single reconciliation or export them in bulk for a specific time period across multiple accounts, so you have a clean, shareable record of your work.

Why it matters: For audits, reviews, or your own files, you can easily keep a permanent copy of reconciliations outside of Digits—no screenshots, no manual cobbling together—just a ready-to-file PDF.
Meet Ask Digits: Your AI Command Center 🎉
What’s new: Ask Digits is your AI command center inside Digits. You can ask it anything about your finances—cash, expenses, revenue, vendors, categories, trends, and more—and get instant answers, right on the page you’re already on.

Why it matters: Instead of hunting through reports or switching tools, you can just ask a question and keep going. Ask Digits gives you quick clarity on your numbers and helps you stay in flow while you manage your finances.
New! Email Your Documents Directly to Digits
What’s new: You can now send documents to Digits by email. Digits automatically recognizes Bills, Receipts, and Statements and routes them into the right workflows, while other common file types like Word, Excel, and PDFs are saved into Documents.
Why it matters: You can now work directly from your inbox—no extra portals, no manual uploads. Just email documents to Digits, and they’ll arrive already sorted, organized, and ready to use, helping you keep your finances cleaner and reducing the chances of anything slipping through the cracks.
New: Email Notifications for Paid Invoices
What’s new: Users who send invoices will now receive an email notification when an invoice is paid.

The notification is sent to the email address listed on the invoice profile, keeping the sender in the loop without needing to check manually.
Why it matters: It’s now easier to track invoice payments without constantly checking Digits; senders get notified automatically when a payment comes through.
Improved: Line Item Handling in Bill Pay
What’s new: Line item processing in Bill Pay just got an upgrade. When splitting bills, you’ll now see line-level discounts, overall discounts, and tax listed as individual line items.

Why it matters: This update gives you greater clarity and control when working with detailed vendor bills, ensuring every dollar is tracked and split correctly.
New: Automated Receipt Linking
What’s new: Digits now automatically links uploaded receipts to their matching transactions in the Ledger—no manual matching required. When you upload a receipt (PDF or image) to the Documents section, Digits will extract key details like amount, date, and party, and link it to the corresponding transaction. You can view linked transactions directly from the receipt detail view.
What to know:
Only new uploads are processed (documents already in Digits won’t be retroactively matched).
If no match is found, the document will remain unlinked for now—but future updates will surface those for manual review.

Why it matters: This update removes the tedious work of finding and attaching receipts manually, saving time and helping ensure every transaction has the backup it needs for audit and tax purposes.
New: Tag Departments & Locations in Inbox Action Items
What’s new: Inbox Action Items now support Department and Location tagging. When reviewing a transaction, you’ll see dropdowns next to Category for easy assignment.

Why it matters: Add context and improve reporting accuracy by tagging departments and/or locations as you work—no extra steps required.

Why it matters: More control and context, right where you need it—without extra clicks. Customize your financial views without switching tabs—making it faster to review and present financials your way.
New: Department Visibility in Transaction Tables
What's new: You can now view, filter, and sort by Departments directly in transaction tables—making it easier to analyze activity across your business.

On smaller screens, department details are tucked inside the Category column dropdown to keep things clean and readable.

Why it matters: This gives you faster insights into how transactions break down by department—without needing to export or dig into reports.
Improved: Capture Client Removal Reasons
What’s new: Firms are now asked to provide a reason when removing a client from Digits.
The reason is included in the internal cancellation message sent to our team, helping us better understand churn.

Why it matters: This gives us valuable insight into why clients leave, helping us improve the experience for all firms.
Enhancement: New Collect Experience for Operators
What's new: Digits Collect (formerly Get Paid) has a new look! We’ve redesigned the UI to better match the rest of the Digits experience—making it faster and easier to track payments, review invoices, and stay on top of your available balance.

Why it matters: A cleaner, more intuitive experience means you can collect payments and manage cash flow without confusion—just clarity.
Closed Periods Now Enabled for All Operators
What's new: Closed Periods are now automatically enabled for all operators and business owners in Digits.

Why it matters: With Closed Periods on by default, business owners can confidently preserve historical data and avoid unwanted changes—especially after completing a close or sharing reports.

What’s new: Firms in the Digits Partner Program can now select the Low Volume plan when adding a client—available for $10/month.

New: Bulk Comment on Transactions from the Ledger
What’s new: Accountants and users with Ledger access can now bulk-select transactions and leave a single comment for review or follow-up.
The recipient will get one web and email notification with a direct link to the Inbox → Transactions section, where they can take action on all relevant items.

Why it matters: This makes it faster to flag multiple transactions at once, saving time, reducing back-and-forth, and keeping your review workflow streamlined.
Enhancement: Better Visibility Into What’s Due and Paid
What’s new: We’ve enhanced how Digits handles imported bills and invoices, making them easier to find, understand, and manage.

Updates include:
Imported bills and invoices are now available as transaction types in filters
Transaction detail views now include bill/invoice number, due date, and payment date fields
A payables panel shows when a transaction is linked to an external bill or invoice
Related transactions are listed for each bill or invoice, including partial payments

Passwordless Sign-In Rollout
What’s new: All users now log into Digits using Magic Link or Google Sign-In. The password login option has been fully removed from the login screen.

Why it matters: Passwords are no longer the most secure way to protect sensitive financial data. Magic Links and Google Auth provide a safer, smoother login experience—without the risk of password reuse or phishing.
See Assignees for Inbox Action Items
What’s new: You can now see who an Inbox action item is assigned to—whether it's an individual or an organization—right from the Inbox view.

The assignee icon appears on the right side of each item.
Hover over the icon to see the full name or reassign it.

Why it matters: This update improves visibility and accountability by clearly showing who’s responsible for each action item, separate from who left the comment, and makes reassignment faster when needed.

Only one category is shown per transaction row..
You'll see the related category in category-specific tables (Ledger, Banks & Cards, Reconciliations, Category Details).

In bulk actions, “Category” refers to the value shown in the table row.

FAQs
Do all uploaded documents go into the Documents tab? Yes! All attachments are stored in the Documents tab.
If I upload a document into Documents, will it automatically match to a transaction? Not at this time—but smart matching is on our roadmap.
Will historical attachments from QuickBooks be imported? That’s our goal. We’re currently exploring the feasibility of a large-scale document import from QBO. This would help populate past transactions and also give us useful training data for future attachment smarts.
Why it matters: This makes your transaction history richer and more useful—no more hunting for the matching receipt in a separate folder. Everything’s right where you need it.
New Transfer Transaction View
What’s new: We’ve launched a dedicated view for transfer transactions—designed to clearly show money moving between accounts. You’ll see the transfer amount, source and destination accounts, memo, and related vendor or institution details—all in one place.

Why it matters: No more guessing which account paid what. This view gives you full visibility into intra-account transfers, including credit card payments, internal moves, and more—making reviews and reconciliations faster and clearer.
More Flexible Chart of Accounts Setup in Digits for Business Owners
What’s new: Business owners can now choose how to set up their Chart of Accounts (known as Categories in Digits) during onboarding.
Start Fresh with Digits – Use our pre-configured, AI-optimized chart of accounts
Migrate from QuickBooks – Import your existing setup with just a few clicks.
Manual Upload via CSV – Ideal for migrations from systems like Xero, Puzzle, or custom setups.

Important Notes:
If you plan to use a custom CoA, upload it before connecting any accounts or importing transactions. This ensures Digits AI categorizes transactions using your intended structure from the start.
The CSV upload to Import Categories is specifically for importing your Chart of Accounts (also known as the Category Manager in Digits). It does not support uploading opening balances or account-level transactions.
Your CSV must include:
Category name
Category number
Category type
Status (optional; but defaults to active if left blank)
Why it matters: This update gives you more control over how your financial data is organized—whether you're starting fresh or migrating from another system. It saves time and reduces manual cleanup so you can hit the ground running with a structure that fits your business.
Dimensional Profit & Loss Reports
What’s new: You can now generate P&L reports by department or location.
Click the Gear Icon at the top of the P&L Report to open Options.
Enable the Drill-down toggle to open Location and Department.

Why it matters: Gives users deeper insight into financial performance across teams and regions.
Resume Incomplete Businesses from Shared with Me
What’s new: Business Owners can now resume onboarding for any of their own incomplete businesses in two ways:
From the Shared with Me tab
Or by clicking an "Incomplete" business in the top-left dropdown menu
Either option will take you straight back into the onboarding flow—right where you left off.

Why it matters: No more guessing where to pick up—if you’ve started onboarding, you can jump right back in and finish it smoothly.
Negative Amounts in Pay-In/Pay-Out
What’s new: You can now input negative amounts in Pay-In and Pay-Out transactions.

Why it matters: Real-world transactions aren’t always straightforward. Sometimes money moves in the opposite direction—like refunds, adjustments, or platform fees. Now you can record those cleanly, without workarounds.
Edit Sent Invoices
What’s new: Users can now edit invoices that have been sent.
This feature is only available if the legal entity has no closed accounting periods.
If a period is closed at any point, invoice editing is automatically disabled for that entity.
To edit an invoice:
Click the Three Dots in the top right corner and select Edit Invoice from the drop-down menu.

FAQs: What counts as a “closed period”? If any accounting period is closed for the legal entity (you’ll see a lock icon), editing sent invoices is turned off across all periods.
Can I still edit invoices from open periods if one old period is closed? Not right now. If any period is closed for a legal entity, editing is fully disabled for that entity. We’re exploring more flexible options.
If I edit an invoice that has been sent, will the recipient see the changes? Yes. The invoice link doesn’t change. As long as the recipient refreshes the page (or opens the link again), they’ll see the updated version. If they had it open in a tab already, Digits will automatically refresh it before they pay.
Does this affect teams who close periods to lock their books? No—those protections stay in place. If a period is closed, invoice edits are automatically blocked to maintain data integrity.
Why it matters: Need to tweak payment terms or fix a typo after sending? Now you can—without canceling and starting from scratch. It’s a flexible update that keeps things accurate and moving.
New! Filter by Transaction Type Across Key Workflows
What's New: You can now filter by Transaction Type in the following views: Banks & Cards, Ledger, Vendors, Customers, and Reconciliations.

Why it matters: This filter helps you quickly identify specific transaction types, such as Pay In, Pay Out, Journal Entry, or Bank Transfer.
Business Owners Can Now Onboard Multiple Businesses
What's new: Business Owners can now onboard multiple businesses, each with its own subscription and legal entity (LE).
To add an additional business,
Click your Business Name in the top left corner,
Then click Add a Business in the drop-down menu.

Once a business is added, it will appear in the dropdown menu (top left), as well as in the sidebar and mobile nav. You may see one of these labels next to it:
Incomplete – Setup isn’t finished yet; a few steps remain.
Pending – Setup is complete; the system is finishing up in the background.
Not ready to add a business? No problem. If you want to exit the onboarding flow, click the Back to Home button at the top.

Why it matters: Manage multiple businesses under one login—each with its own clean dashboard, subscription, and setup. No more juggling accounts or logins.
QBO Transactions Now Fully Editable
What's new: QuickBooks transactions are now fully editable in the Ledger for all clients with Category Manager enabled.

Why it matters: You no longer need to return to QBO to make changes—Ledger edits are fully supported.
Who it’s for: All users with Category Manager turned on. Need category manager enabled? Contact our support team here.
Chart of Accounts (via. CSV) Now Available During Client Onboarding (Firms)
What’s new: Accounting firms now have more flexibility when onboarding new clients: the Add Client flow has been enhanced to support Category Manager (Chart of Accounts) uploads. Firms can now choose between three tailored options to kick-start a client's books

Start Fresh with Digits – Leverage our pre-configured, gifted chart of accounts.
Migrate from QuickBooks – Import your client’s existing setup with just a few clicks.
Manual Upload – For clients coming from Xero, Puzzle, or other systems, firms can now manually upload a CSV file containing their existing chart of accounts.
Why it matters: This update makes client onboarding smoother and more scalable—especially for firms bringing in businesses from other platforms. Whether starting clean or migrating from a legacy system, firms now have a clear path to get client books into Digits faster.
