I almost stopped at some point in S7 - but I watched them all by the time the season ended, and loved Season Eight in so many ways, and for so many reasons.
In other words, Supernatural, I'm still into you.
I should get over all the butterflies, but I'm into you.
So since a song summed it up so well, I had to put it into fanvid form.
Title: Still Into You Song By: Paramore Rating: PG Genre: Gen, Show-love Characters: Oh, everyone! Not literally, and it's mostly Sam and Dean, but there's Bobby and Castiel and John, Henry and Mary Winchester, Charlie, Kevin, Andy, Ash, Jo, Ellen, Meg, Ruby, Death, some Leviathans, a number of demons and God (or Chuck). Play spot-the-episode! Warnings: There's under one second of images from the teaser that's been released for S9. Blink and you'll miss it. Blink at 1.22 for about two seconds if you want to miss it. If you blink you won't be dead, SuperWhoLock people. I promise.( Watch it here.Collapse )
Fandom: Teen Wolf Title: Odds Are Vidder: heidi8 Song: "Odds Are" by Barenaked Ladies (off their Grinning Streak album which I always read as "Grinning Sterek") Summary: Odds are we're gonna be alright for another night. Crossposted to: tumblr
All the pack-feels. All the friendships, relationships, romances, families and magic (and only a very little bit of evil).
Title: "All the Other Kids" Fandom: Thor (2011 movie) (or, as others have said, "The movie title is 'Thor'?) Set to: Foster the People's Pumped Up Kicks Summary: Loki's magic and his words are the weapons he uses to protect himself from all the other kids. Rating: PG Genre: ANGST! Woobie angst!
Heidi, what were you thinking?
I was thinking about Loki, and his angst and his woe and his brother and how Thor, the silly puppy, doesn't know anything at all about what happened while he was on Earth, he doesn't know what Loki's been going through, or why he broke so tragically the way he did. And yes, I only saw the film two weeks ago, on a tiny airplane screen but it's stayed with me and I've been mentally storyboarding this since then and it's a relief to have this done.
Song: Having My Baby as performed by Cory Monteith in S1 of Glee. No connection with his role in Wendigo is intended.
Summary: Castiel's touch is more powerful than Dean knows - and he's not using the right kind of protection when dealing with an angel. Castiel tells Dean his feelings about this unexpected situation, in song.
Ship: Dean/Castiel! Srsly!
Purpose of this Vid: Created for missyjack as she won me in a 2010 auction. It took this long for Show to film and broadcast the perfect clips. Thank you, Misha and Jensen for being you.
Warnings/Rating: Well, that kids book Mr Seahorse was a G-rated thing, so the presence of mpreg itself doesn't raise the rating here. So, PG-13 for violence and self-harm.
Characters/Pairings: The Team, plus a little of Chaos and Sterling.
Genre: Multigenre, Gen
Rating: PG
Note: Spoilers through 3.16.
Author's Note: Belatedly created for la_perkins as part of Sweet Charity. Thank you so much for being patient! I am so sorry that this is basically a year late, but were it not, it would be bereft of Parker in an elf outfit!
About a month ago, the sylar_peter comm organized a little Countdown to Xmas project, and I had a half-done crackvid that I wanted to wrap up, and this was sort of the impetus for me to do that. I think this will be my last crack-esque Heroes vid, although I still have two Petrelli-centric vids that I may do at some random time in the future when I can bring myself to rewatch seasons three and four all the way through (or at least, all the Petrelli Bros scenes (and yes, I still include Gabriel in that count)).
SUMMARY: Poor Sylar! His paramour (Mohinder) ran away from home, then he met this debutante (Elle) and had no luck with her. You would always find him in the kitchen at parties... until he met Peter Petrelli. Crack. Twisted, silly crack.
SHIP/Characters: Sylar (Gabriel)/Peter, visuals of past Sylar/Maya, Sylar/Mohinder, Gabriel(Sylar)/Elle and some implied Sylar/Matt and Sylar/Brian Davis. Like I said, crack.
Song Credits: Written and performed by Pet Shop Boys
Characters/Pairings: Sam/Dean (cameos by various other characters)
Genre: Angst! Drunken, angsty angst! Manpain, bromance and love.
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Spoilers for all of Season 6 to date, including 6.11
A/N: Created as part of spn_j2_xmas for sonofabiscuit, whose prompt included: Pet Shop Boys, Sam's hair from 201 and 202, super-protective!Sam or super-protective!Dean, intensely co-dependent boys, outsider POV on wincest, domestic!boys, boys acting like brothers, masculine!boys ... something wincesty or angsty.
Beta: By the gorgeous and brilliant deirdre_c, whose advice is always spot-on. To the beat.
Summary: "You only tell me you love me when you're drunk." Luckily, the boys drink (and angst) a lot.
Sometimes you do a vid too soon, and subsequent episodes make you wish you'd waited to add in that special clip or moment or scene. I've felt that way a few times, but this is the first time I've gone back and re-done a vid - because I felt like I needed to do something to mark the 100th episode of Supernatural, which airs tonight.
I'm pretty sure I included every single episode in there, but there are a few that are only in for half a second or so. If you think something is missing, let me know!
(Oh, right, I went right from that to watching the last Tennant-episode of Doctor Who, and then into vidding to that DJ Earworm mashup...)
Headlights on Dark Roads: A Vid Gift for:radiophile in spn_j2_xmas 2009 Fandom: Supernatural Rating: PG-13 Pairing: As Sam/Dean as a Supernatural episode Music: Snow Patrol's Headlights on Dark Roads Length: About 3.5 minutes
For once I want to be the car crash Not always just the traffic jam. Hit me hard enough to wake me And lead me wild to your dark roads
So, what have I been doing since I watched the final David Tennant episode of Doctor Who?
Vidding. And weeping a bit while rewatching.
TITLE: Farewell to Ten, the Doctor Who Remix
MUSIC: Blame it on the Pop, the 2009 Remix by DJ Earworm - all songs included in the remix are listed below
RATING: PG
GENRE: Mash-up.
NOTES: In December of 2009, DJ Earworm released a remix of the top 25 songs in the US from 2009. I heard it the day before the last episode of Doctor Who starring David Tennant was set to air, and I knew from the first notes that I needed to do a vid about the Tenth Doctor set to this amazing mix of songs. It's my homage to Ten, his companions, his rivals and enemies.
So many thanks to longtimegone for sitting with me through the editing process - you are invaluable! And thanks to wendy for sharing the song last week! I wouldn't have heard it otherwise, so I couldn't have done this without her!
As for me, I wrote "Pink & Glitter", a story based on Lev Grossman's The Magicians, which came out last August. I knew it wouldn't find many readers because it's not just an obscure fandom, the novel itself is barely five months old. But I am generally happy with how the story turned out - it's about Julia, and the summary is thus:
To learn magic outside the Brakebills system, Julia had to do terrible things.
You can read it here - if you've read The Magicians, I'm really curious to hear what you think.
Also, last night I posted a gift-vid for radiophile in spn_j2_xmas - It's a Dean-centric vid with a heavy undercurrent of Sam/Dean subtext, set to Snow Patrol's Headlights on Dark Roads (thanks to momebie for the song suggestion!). Full postings of everything to pear_vodka coming soonish.
Title: That's What You Get (Waking Up in Vegas) Fandom: Harry Potter Performed By: Katy Perry Rating: PG Ships include: Harry/Ginny, Harry/Ron, Harry/Draco, Harry/Hermione, Remus/Sirius, Ron/Hermione, Ron/Lavender, Hermione/Viktor, Umbridge/Fireworks Dragon, Lucius/Pimp Cane, Lucius/Harry, Harry/Snape, Harry/Dumbledore, and probably a few more that I was not consciously thinking of. Um, Barty Jr/His Tongue? Nobody is shipped with Dudley, though. Summary: Harry wakes up in Vegas each and every day, since he first learned about the wizarding world. Crack Warnings: Spoilers through Half-Blood Prince.
Notes: I finished this almost exactly two weeks ago so it could debut at the vid show that akemi42 put together for azkatraz, but I've made a few tweaks to it and ran it by my kids a few times and I think it's basically done - but when I get a better (DVD) copy of HBP I will probably remaster it to incorporate clips with better image quality.
Love and hugs to all of you - those I got to see in the last few weeks, those I've never met (online or off), and those I haven't seen in years.
Note: I've wanted to do a set of ads for Merlin set to various OASIS songs for months but haven't had the time to do so. Finally, with only one day left before the show airs in the US, I've managed to finish it!
Spoilers for: Episodes 1 - 5
Coming soon: Ad #2 set to Champagne Supernova and ad #3 set to Don't Look Back in Anger.
Watch it on YouTube (unless they pull the audio again) or download it from MegaUpload
Huh, it didn't crosspost from Dreamwidth the other day (and here I was just thinking I'd picked a bad time of the day/week to post a vid again) - but I think I just didn't check the tickybox.
So, belatedly:
In the final Sweet Charity auction, I won cho_malfoy's phenomenal writing skillz, and requested something April Fool-ish and pranky featuring Sam & Dean, and oh, she gave me something adorable and bro-tastic and full of perfect pranks and the perfect mix of angst and silliness. I love it, and you must read it!
Summary: Sammy Winchester strolls. He jumps. He's hot and he's a tease. He's a tall cool one, and he's built to please.
How to Watch: Imeem isn't embedding anymore, and YouTube hates my audio track, but you can watch it here or download it from megaupload in high res or low-res versions. And squee, now I get to spend more time in the next few weeks working on my bigbang vids for finn21 and __tiana__. I also saw the new Rebecca Rubin doll from American Girl and I am considering it for Catie, because I like the idea of her having a Jewish doll, but Rebeccca's story sounds very similar to Ella in the All Of A Kind Family series, so I am not sure about the books. But how can I choose between Rebecca and my clone-doll Chrissa? Does the Doll of the Year for this year stay on the shelves through December? And some quick Azkatraz notes: 1. Quidditch info & signup procedure info for the FOG BOWL (lovely logo courtesy of glockgal) 2. Info and signup procedure info for drabbling, drawbling, fanfic readings, portfolio showings, and time-slots for the recording and video studios at ZEUM</a> are here! So this morning, roguebitch did a one-line review of SPN 4.21 that was basically a request/inspiration for a vid, and I had a few hours to spare (I didn't really need to go to the gym, did I?) so I sat down and made the vid, which I hope means good things for my vidding mojo as I have six different, sensational, fun vid commitments between now and the end of June!
The vid has SPOILERS through SPN 4.21. You have been warned.
Title: No, no, no (Rehab) Song by: Amy Winehouse Rating: PG-13. Spoilers through 4.21. Seriously, do not watch this until you've seen 4.21 Summary: Would be spoilery for 4.21. But if you've seen 4.21, you probably don't need a summary. ( First, my thinky-thoughts about the episode...Collapse )
Title:Always Keep an Edge on Your Knife Song by: The Corb Lund Band Rating: PG-13. Gen. Spoilers for all episodes of Supernatural through 4.14. Yes, there is actually at least one clip from every single episode of SPN in this vid. Summary: A few words of advice from the Winchesters - and the Corb Lund Band. Basically, a good sharp edge is a man's best hedge against the vague uncertainties of life. Moderate amount of crack - just the right quantity for a MOnday. Created for la_perkins & friends as part of Sweet Charity (Fall, 2008).
Note: This video was ridiculously fun to edit. From the first time I heard the song, courtesy of la_perkins, I knew it would be adorably Winchestery, but it wasn't until I started working on it that I knew that it had to have clips from every single episode of SPN to date. But culling about 60 hours of Show into a three minute video was a bizarre and fascinating challenge, because it meant that sometimes I could pull the essence of a moment of Show, and other times the moment I was taking from a certain episode was almost at random - there's just over one second of Impala from S1 around the two-minute marker and I think I want to give a prize to the person who's the first to figure out which episode it comes from.
Hmmmm....
I have a spare copy of the S2 Companion book - and I'll get it signed by the person of the winner's choice at Eyecon this month. So yeah - first person to figure out which S1 episode the one-second clip of the Impala comes from wins it. :D I am crossposting this, so only answers in comments on my pear_vodka livejournal count.
Title:Titanic Days (aka My Heart Will Go On: The Re-Soundtracking) Song by: Screaming Jets (covering Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On) Rating: PG-15 Pairing: Dean/Anna Spoilers for 4.09 and 4.10 Summary: Anna's existence is about to change forever, but she'll keep her memories of Dean Winchester in her heart as long as she can.
Happy Monday (if it's still Monday where you are)! Welcome back from wincon (if you were so lucky as to be in Bal'mur this weekend)! Vote early (if you're in one of the states that allows such things)!
Check out my vid (if you enjoy SPN, or vids, or the Finn Brothers (in their Split Enz incarnation)!
Title: Dirty Creature
Song by: Neil & Tim Finn (Split Enz)
Rating: PG
Pairing: Dean/Shapeshifter UST. Sort of.
Spoilers through: 4.05 (Monster Movie)
Summary: Sam and Dean deal with a dirty creature - but is he chasing Jamie the Bar Wench, or Dean Winchester? There's action, flirtiness and some meta in a four-minute package. In other words, it's a meta-dance-remix sort of thing.
Note: This vid is part of the FinnProject, in which I am doing a vid for each episode set to a different Finn-penned song. I'm still working on the vids from 4.02, 4.03 and 4.04....
Given the presence of a lot of HP fans - including a number of Azkatraz and Infinitus team members at Dragon*Con, what better place to have the next Azkatraz+Infinitus Meet-Up?
As I just posted in the forums:
Learn more about the events, meet some of the organizers, talk HP for a while, and enjoy nibbles and drinks at Fandangles at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel from 8:30 until at least 10:00 on Friday night.
RSVPs appreciated but not required - you can text me if you can't find us when you get there. Or leave me your phone number and I'll text you sometime on Friday so you can text me back later.
We'll have some nibbles, postcards, a few sets of Azkatraz handcuffs and some sneak peeks at plans for Azkatraz and Infinitus.
I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted a vid - and this one is something I actually finished in June, as it was the vid voleuse won by bidding on me in the vividcon auction last spring. Title: This Is The Last... Song: Stockholm Syndrome by Muse Summary: "This is the last time I'll abandon you...."
I made another version of the vid too, by running the video backwards ad re-synching it - you can download that version - the Stockholm Syndrome Dance Remix - here or watch it on YouTube ( behind the cut...Collapse )
Note: I wasn't very familiar with the song before voleuse requested it - and that's exactly why I love doing auctions! I get to hear all these songs I never thought about in a particular context before, and play with them with a specific concept or image in mind, and it's a challenge, but such a fun one. The complicated thing in this case was that I had two specific sets of images in mind, like I'd had for The Hero Is Me, which I made for seimaisin back in February, but in that vid, I was telling two parallel stories, and here, the reason for the double-tracking of the video was because I wanted a moebius-strip type of thing going on. While they're fighting at the end of Episode Three, all their experiences together from the past and the future are in their minds and their hearts. At the same time, to us - to the audience, every single thing we see in the series *before* their battle begins is filtered through the knowledge that (a) there will be this epic battle where Obi-Wan will damage Anakin so severely, and (b) that about twenty years later, Anakin will kill Obi-Wan, basically at Obi-Wan's wish.
What amazed me when I was first putting it together was that there are almost exactly as many seconds of actual fighting amid the volcanoes as there are seconds in the song. I had to leave very little battle footage on the cutting room floor. It was lovely synchronicity!
So thank you, voleuse, for prompting the vid! It was a delightful head-trip to make and then to play with!
I didn't do a wrap-up at the end of June, so this one'll cover June and July. It's all the vids I've posted this summer, divided by fandom. The May wrap-up was posted here.
Doctor Who/Torchwood
Nine Get Overexcited, set to The Housemartins' Five Get Overexcited. A relatively cheery look back at the first four seasons, with spoilers for almost all the episodes.
Knowing Me, Knowing You, a pinch hit for clockstopper's entry in the Tardis BigBang posting event, set to the Marshall Crenshaw cover of the ABBA song. Basically, it's Jack/Ianto - except there's Ianto-Owen bodyswap. Visually, a challenge, but a fun one!
Nobody's Diary, set to the YAZ(oo) song of the same name. Spoilers for the two Library episodes in S4. The story remains the same, if you take a look.
Heroes
I Simply Cannot Do It Alone, set to the Catherine Zeta-Jones version from the film Chicago. A JessNiki vid that was my entry for this past month's heroes_lvms.
Supernatural
Perfect Spot, a Sam/Dean vid for veronamay's amazing spn_j2bigbang> fic, Better Elsewhere. I also did a trailer for the story. If you skipped over the fic during the glut of bigbang postings, go back to it and check it out now, as it's a fantastic AU.
SPiŇacolada. Yes, this really was a Sam/Dean vid set to Rupert Holmes' "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)". And yes, it's cracky. But it's also extremely sincere and earnest and Dean truly is a lovely lady, and Sam is just not into yoga. He is, however, into champagne.
I think this is my last vid posting for July - and possibly the last for the summer, unless next month's heroes_lvms is super-inspirational. I'm getting greedy/needy for new content, so come September and the flood of shiny new shows...
Long distance dedication: Happy (early) birthday, deirdre_c! (Posting early as I'm out of town for the rest of the week).
D, you're a terrific friend, a wonderful beta, a vidding mentor and a partner in squee! This vid's for you! And next month, I'll treat you to a RL pina colada, too!
Summary: Fun! Fun! Fun! That's life, the universe and everything (with a nod to Doug Adams) for the Doctor and his companions in the new Doctor Who series. Sort of.
Notes: I've been waiting all season to do this vid; after the end of S4 it took me a few days to recuperate but then in re-watching S4, and selected episodes from 1-3, I re-embraced the "fun" of the companions, and others who move in and out of the Doctor's orbit - even when the fun doesn't seem very fun at all.
I was lucky and thrilled to get veronamay's fic "Better Elsewhere" in this year's spn_j2_bigbang and it was an unbelievable experience to get to create things for her wonderful story!
Notes: This is my entry in the current round of heroes_lvms - you can watch the other entry and vote here. The challenge was to vid to any song from a musical, and I considered "There, Right There" from Legally Blonde, "Unworthy of Your Love" from Assassins and "What Do You Do with a B.A. in English?" from Avenue Q before playing the Chicago soundtrack and getting caught up by the line, "My sister is now unfortunately deceased..." as sung by Velma Kelly - of course, it reminded me of Niki.
Thanks to wendywoowho for sitting with me through the song-selection process!
And since today is July 2, which is the day that the resolution for independency passed the Continental Congress of the United Colonies, I'm re-posting my Preamble to the Constitution, As Explained By Chuck & Friends vid from earlier this year ( behind the cut.Collapse )
Audio has been fixed. I think. Let me know if there are still any issues with how it plays for you.
Title: Always Be My Baby Song: David Cook's version of the Mariah Carey song Rating: PG Characters: Winchesters and random people from their past. Virtually. Spoilers: Supernatural Season Three through 3.16. In other words, do not watch this until you have seen the Season Three finale. Also visual spoilers for various other shows that Jared and Jensen have been in
Summary: Sam will always be Dean's baby. Mostly pre-series to SPN.
Notes: This vid would not exist without strippedpink - she did a bit of a squee about the song and it gave me such a vidding bunny, so I had to run with it. So many thanks and love to her - hope this is a good cheer-up for you! Thanks to deirdre_c and roguebitch for handholding, especially while I watched Young MacGuyver. Oh, the things I do for vidding!
Further thanks to everyone involved with AI, who were so wonderful as to bring Mr Cook to the attention of fangirlsthe American public the world!
I followed you on DW, but I'm staying on LJ. There's a sticky post on my DW with a feed for folks over there who want to see my posts. On my end of things, I'm reading my friends list in both places,…
