Remember my excruciating back pain last fall? How it healed and I felt better and could finally walk without wincing and sit without cursing? Weren't those fascinating reads?

You're in luck! You get to read another one....today!!

This morning, a group of my students were working on a mural spread out on the floor. I walked over to check on them, and squatted down to see the drawings. My student--T--was sitting in a chair next to me. My back was to him, but I don't believe he knew I was there. As a joke or an accident, he fell or rolled out of his chair to the right...directly onto the small of my back.

Now, you may be thinking A first grader fell on you, a grown woman. What harm could that do? This is no ordinary first grader. He's 7 years old, 4'10", and 160 lbs. Yep, you read it right. Not 60..160. Fattest kid in the first grade, if not the whole school.

And the harm...a good amount. I have trouble walking, sitting down and getting up. I went to the front office and asked if I needed to do a discipline referral for a student who may accidentally hurt a teacher. The dean asked me what happened. I said, "T fell on me." She began laughing out loud.

I had to go to a walk-in medical center to be checked out since it happened at work. The waiting room was a leper colony. The wait was 2 hours. I fell asleep twice, read the two gardening magazines available, and finally was checked out. I left with pain killers and muscle relaxers, and a caution about lifting, bending, etc.

Same old, same old.
