Fucking DDoS attacks are made of lamesauce. Hopefully LJ is still up by the time I hit post... This is going to be another randomish brain dump, heh.

- Buying rings is hard, especially when you suddenly realize that there's a very good sale going on at the worst point in the year to buy rings (namely, the super humid, super hot height of summer, when your fingers are all swollen and UGH). Of course, I cheated a very little bit and used the sizing on rings I've been wearing for years, through summer and winter, and from before I gained weight...

Y'know, this sounds a little like whining. It isn't. And that's all I'll say on that. :)

- I know I never got around to writing the LJ post bitching about Br and how he thought he was better than us, so that during game he baited us and picked a fight, and later stuck gum to David's hat. Suffice it to say, we'll be happy if we never see the bastard again.

However, for all that Trickster and KJ were upset by both his thought processes behind what he did and how he did what he did (and the fact that Br destroyed yet another game Trickster's run), they seem awfully hunky dory with him. Gee, guys, surprise! He's less of an asshole when he's not near people he feels like he's allowed to treat like that. It's not like I feel like they shouldn't be friends with him, but I feel... I don't know. Marginalized? Like, ok, we've been upset for the prescribed amount of time, and now (aside from never putting you in a room together) we'll act like it never even happened! :sighs:

- I'd really, really like to get into a new gaming group...Andy's running a game. We haven't gamed with Andy in years, but he was the best GM we've played with so far. (Of course, there might be a lot of nostalgia attached to that opinion, heh.) The problem is we have no wheels, and the train times make getting there during available gaming hours difficult. (Not to mention there'd be walking 2+ miles in the sun...) Throw in the fact that someone (maybe Andy? we're not sure) has "severe cat allergies," which means that in our current apartment, we have no way to host (some? any? all?) games. Especially after the crap with Trickster's game, and how sporadic the game at Grey's needs to be for now, I'm really disappointed that this probably isn't going to work out. And it's going to be a Changeling game! Chaaaaangeliiiiing. :sighs:

ETA: Oh, oh maybe there's a shot. :crosses fingers~:

- I have finally finished the next section of noir!RPS for elebridith. The Third Murder is at a grammar beta, and clocks in over 10k words. Which, damn. :D It's already had a read through for voicing/flow and been given a thumbs up. \o/

After I get it back, I'll have to figure out whether or not it can post in one entry or not... Anyone know if 10k words usually comes in over 65,000 characters? I have no mental frame of reference, heh.

Anyway. I still have two scenes left in a story for ravens_word, the extra porny porn and the wrap up, and then I've only got original stuff to focus on. Er. Well, ok, there's the Story I'm Not Writing (which hasn't got another working title yet, ok? lol) but basically focus will be largely on original stuff. Especially if I can keep upping my daily word count like I had been last week.

I just need my focus~~

- Walking about 10mi a week has been great. ...Ok, great is kind of an over statement. The humidity has been shit, and while the national heat wave hasn't pushed our daytime temperatures too much higher than usual (that is, 101-104F feels like 103-107F) but our evening temperatures... Well, lets put it this way, I decided yesterday evening (before we ended up going out) that we wouldn't be walking last night because at 11pm it was still going to be 91F. The summer in Texas is rough for staying fit when you don't have regular access to a gym...

But we have kept to it. I'm really proud of what we've done. Between counting calories (since January!) and walking regularly (I think it's been 4 months?) we've been losing weight steadily. And while losing weight isn't our main focus, it's really nice to see. I feel healthier, and can walk farther, and honestly even my breathing feels better. People have commented that I look better, too. It's just... nice. :)

- We go to California in a week! Just a week! Is it now? How about now? ... Now? :D :D :D

- David's trucking along quite nicely on his cook book. I warn you now that when he gets it published, I'm going to be pimping it, and looking at y'all adorably to pimp it to anyone you think might like it. I'm not sure yet how his advertising will work, and word of mouth is often pretty brilliant. ♥

- Uh. I swear there's something else I was going to say here. :wiggles toes... tries to remember...:
ETA: Hah, I remember!

I'm currently layout hunting because some of my friends have been evil enablers of evilness and enabled other friends into creating this: mpregbb. They're already starting to put things together, so if you're into mpreg, you should totally go join the comm. :)

Nope, gone. Ah well. I should probably peruse a little Tumblr-age and switch computers to write anyway. :)

I've realized the reason I post to LJ less isn't just because there's a whole lot of nothing interesting going on -- it's because there's a massive brain dump I do constantly on Twitter (and now G+). It's not that it's any more interesting, barring the social interactions that I get from posting stuff there, but I don't feel the need to put together something remotely thoughtful. I don't feel bad if all I say is "wow, my cat just did something stupid," or rant about the latest insignificant stupidity on the part of my roommate.

But it's not like I'm leaving LJ. Except when I go super space case, I still read my flist every day.

I just have to, idk, start using this for free writing. Or reporting my word counts. And generally babble at y'all more.

Like how I'm gaming (that is, table top role playing) with Trickster again. MEGS is probably my least favorite system, but we're playing supers... More specifically I'm playing a hitter with super strength and something called "hands of power" (I can do touch damage from a list of powers like "heat" or "vibro"), who is addicted to boxing (mostly translates into picking fights, the way Trickster runs the game) and is more or less a drunk. It's been fun... mostly. There was a problem player who's going to be back in game tomorrow. And then there's the part where Trickster keeps taking our powers away and makes it so she has to be sober and just... Uh, not fun? So we'll see how it goes. (I want to play something not myself... I don't want to be your problem solver! Drunk. Hitter. It's not that hard!)

Also, I've been slowly getting more fit and losing a little weight. David and I have been walking at least 2 miles per night at least 5 nights per week. It feels pretty good, generally speaking. Although fuck me, the Texas heat sucks. 89F feels like 91F at 10pm? Woosh.

And I'm sure I'll have plenty to say soon when David and I head out to California. Yay vacation! Even if the universe keeps taking away the important part... (We'll miss you canadiangoddess and darling_lisa! ;_;)

Now to edit. Which will mean putting Twitter and G+ and LJ down. And maybe finding a snack. Hmmmm.

Yeah, I'm alive. But not feeling particularly awesome. In bullet points, cos it's easier.

-Thor is a bright spot in my life right now. Like, seriously, that dorky smile? And Loki being Loki? And their hands? And how itty Natalie Portman (at all of 5'3") is next to Chris Hemsworth (a nearly moose-sized 6'3")?

I mean come on!

There will be graphics of mine at some point. I need icons. And maybe headers. And yes...

-I'm sick. I've been down for a week with a head/chest cold that's been going around. Seems like a week is standard, but god it sucks. Sucks. I still don't feel human yet, though I'm definitely on the way to better. My head's congested enough I can't hear properly right now and it's hard to think, and this is only the first day that I've really been able to be up without needing a nap in four hours. Breathing's getting better though. Mostly.

I'm ready for it to be done now though. Seriously. Ugh.

-B's graduation party... Well. I'll start at the end, and then go back.

He spent three days in the hospital after getting his stomach pumped.

I almost didn't go to the party on account of how shitty I felt. Really, it was all but David's party. Trying to talk B into a wiser plan aside, David's the one that planned, cooked for (including 160 or so jello shots that were very tasty), and made all the purchases for (with B's money) the shindig. It was a party barge... And y'know, aside from the lake being really pretty, I don't get the appeal.

I was also the designated driver. Where I'm usually the one that B gets trashed, he wanted to be the one getting fucked up at his own party. Yeah, ok, whatever, right? Except that he barely knows his own limits, and his "friends" at work aren't the true blue sort. He'd had enough - more than, enough that I'd expect him to vomit - and I made him drink a bottle of water before heading downstairs to clean up with the other responsible types.

Next thing I'm told, B's passed out and won't wake up.

Awesome.

Being slapped and splashed does nothing, so we get things together and one of his best friends drives him to the hospital. Now, B's ok, in the end. Barring that huge ass hospital bill, of course.

But come to find out, those "friends" I mentioned? Got him to chug tequila when he was too trashed to know better. And while the rest of us were concerned with getting him to the truck to get him to the hospital, they were telling us "oh he's fine, let him sleep it off" and preceded to run off with 2 cases of beer, a bottle of vodka, and our cooler of leftover food/condiments.

Awesome.

Of course, B has no force of personality (and often, no spine either), so chances are pretty spectacular that we'll never see any of that stuff, or money to replace it, ever again. :headdesk: I want to punch these people in the face. He works with them though, and chances are getting higher that he won't even report this shit to the police. I just... I don't even.

:hands: We'll see what happens.

-My boyfriend loves me. He bought us wings tonight for dinner. Mmm food coma.

-...I had a thought, but lost it. It probably had to do with Loki. Or Methos.

I'm looking at you, Sarah and Nei. Oooo. ♥

On that note I'm going to find something sweet and consider reading. Or graphics. I have so much to catch up on, dammit.

Brief TMI: You shouldn't have to start your period the same day as you're totally hung over.
/TMI

Yesterday was awesome. Only George, Gorff and KJ showed up, and Gorff couldn't hit up the movie, but we all had a good time. A really good time.

Cos seriously, y'all, you can't have something called a Dirty Love Burger and not have a great time.

Being Cinco de Mayo, there was a lot of tequila (so, no surprise that I'm totally hung over!) but I also had a Washington Apple, a Kamikaze, a Chocolate Cake, a Spider Bite and a Snowball. Mmm shots.

I thoroughly enjoyed Thor. And ok, yes, there was a giant margarita involved. However, a movie that manages to attract Branagh directing, with Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman? It was never going to suck. I was excited to see that Straczynski was involved with the story too - which isn't the same as writing the screenplay, but yeah. There's a good balance of action and humor, and while I think that they misspent a little of their time, and wasn't quite as tight, script wise, as say Iron Man, it was a good comic book movie. If Iron Man is a 9/10, Thor is, for me, an 8.5 at least. I liked it as much as the first Iron Man, personally, but I suppose I'd need to see it in 2D and sober for a proper rating. :P

Two notes: 1) Stay after the credits. If you don't know this about Marvel comics movies by now, you're an idiot, but yes. I'm actually wondering whether or not it was the same clip after all releases, or if they did like Wolverine and had two alternates, considering there's both Avengers and Thor 2 to set up.

2) Don't see it in 3D unless you REALLY love 3D. I don't think it was filmed with the intention of being released in 3D, and there's certain parts of the movie where the action or the lighting don't work with the 3D effect, especially if you're not sitting in the perfect 3D viewing space (center of the theater). I will give it this - I was buzzed at the very least, and tend to get motion sick, but this movie didn't make me ill or give me too much of a headache to see in 3D. So there's that.

I'm currently trying to convince myself to be productive no matter how I feel. It hasn't worked yet... I suppose I should start by convincing my stomach that eating really is actually a good idea, huh?

Also, Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I think mother nature is trying to give me a present too... No, mother nature, I do not like your idea of celebrating...

IN ANY CASE. Take a look see at my schwag:After the jump, cos I'm nice.Collapse )

Today's plan:
-Soon, head to Chef Tim Love's Love Shack (mmm burgers).
-Wander around the square in the lovely weather for shots, drinks, and dessert.
-Find someplace to settle for drinks.
-Midnight showing of Thor.
-Attempt drinking the huge margarita B is going to buy me there...

Then Saturday I'll be gaming with greyrider et al. :D

It's been a good day so far. Hell, it's been kind of a good week so far.

I've been trying to catch up on my flist... but apparently it cuts out at skip 240? :( that got me through nearly 2 weeks, which isn't nearly enough, for what I missed. So... anything awesome/horrible/noteworthy happen in the past month?

I'm excited, though. My birthday's this Thursday! The celebrations will be pretty laid back. Dinner at Love Shack (a burger concept joint by Chef Tim Love, which is amazing) before floating around the Square for drinks and shots and general hanging out before hopefully catching the midnight showing of Thor.

I got screwed over for a Dominos order, though, so I have to wait 10 business days before I can finally buy my icons back. :sighs, paws at the pretties:

I've already gotten one gift though. :g: David gave me an awesome new watch.

I'll be getting 2 new hats as well. He ordered them without letting me look, so I don't know which yet, but I'm excited. Especially when you see where he ordered them from. That place is awesome!! I'll take pics with them when I can though. :D

In other news, we've started walking almost every day. We've got an app on our phones (CardioTrainer for Android)that tracks our speed and distance by GPS. We've been doing about 2.3 miles/day in like 43 minutes.

Which is great. But owwww. I'm so out of shape. My knees are definitely not forgiving me just yet.

And the damper for the day: David's Mac power cord seems to have stopped working. I'm not sure if he can jury rig it. And since my Mac doesn't have a battery, that makes sharing the power cord when I'm writing a lot more difficult. :/

If he can't fix it I'm not sure what we'll do. Couldn't it have done that before the birthday money was spent? :sighs: It looks like they're $40-$80, and even if the $40 one is the one we need, that's still $40 we don't have.

ETA: He got it to work again. But I'm a pessimist, and I have no idea how long that'll last...

Ok. I need to crack down on graphics and prompts, never mind the stories I ought to be working on... Off I go! :goes looking for strawberries as encouragement:

Son of ETA: Almost forgot the silly quiz...

</form>
What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Western. Like Midland, Western is another accent that people consider neutral. So, you might not actually be from the Western half of the country, but you definitely sound like it.

And if you're not from the West, you are probably one of the following:
(a) A Pittsburgher - the quiz can't tell the difference;
(b) Someone from Canada (probably southern Ontario) who doesn't have a Canadian accent;
(c) Someone from northern New England who doesn't have a New England accent; or
(d) Someone from Texas or the Heartland who was born after 1980.
You are definitely not from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, the Deep South, etc.</font>

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

...

... ...

;_;

I'm from New Jersey. Fucking Texas... (Or, uh. Kentucky, as the case may be. :shakes fist at Raylan Givens:)

Right, right, back to trying to be productive, I swear.

Hi! yeah, I'm alive. I haven't been able to catch up like I want cos every time I sit down to open my flist, the frakking DDoS attacks mean it won't open. Hopefully that's done now, and I can catch up soon-ish. I probably won't catch up all the way though, partly cos I'm lame, and partly cos I need to get cracking on the graphics I owe for help_japan.

This is me not pouting that my icon package will end in 5 days. I haven't got the money yet, maybe not til I have birthday money. I need to remember to save the icons I want to keep most so I can re-add them later. Stupid icon packages costing money. Maybe I'll add another year to my LJ sub too. It's not up til August, but the summer gets pretty lean, especially if I want to try and travel and see my girls.

This is me also not punching B in the face. Because it's so damn hard to keep your word about $10 when you have 4 hours to check your finances and change your mind. Already spent that $10, asshole. And no, that wasn't charging you for a favor. Keep. Your. Word. You can't do $10? Don't promise it. And sure as fuck don't back out when you know we spent it.

RAWR.

It's times like these I'm glad I have Force Unleashed on loan from Yusaku. In the not too distant future, I am going to bash droids to bits and pieces with my lightsaber, oh yes.

Sometimes it's good to be a Sith. Just sayin'.

Speaking of Yusaku, he came to visit this past weekend. It was pretty chill --being broke and vehicle-less will do that-- but it was fun. There was much drinking and dorkitude and we totally talked him into starting a character on Dofus. Booyah~

Now I'm going to finish catching up on twitter and try to focus on making some icons. Probably. Assuming this headache goes away so I can look at the screen...

This week has sucked.

A lot.

I'm not going into a lot of detail but let's just say that Summer popped back up. I felt the need to respond to her, but now there are more messages coming from her and just... You'd think "I can't trust you, and at this point in my life I'm not capable of not being hurt in the attempt. So. No friendship, sorry." Would be straightforward enough.

I haven't been productive this week either. Given the fact I slept nearly 20 hours last night... um. It's probably put me in a bit of a depression. :sighs:

In more fun news, B picked up Dragon Age II. I haven't tried playing it (both boys are taking turns playing it based on the schedule for the day, so there's not really room for me too) but it's gorgeous. And funny. And naughty in all the best ways.

Also, I'd like a Fenris of my own please. Where can I purchase one find one?

And now for my last bit of silly:
The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Third Level of Hell!
Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
LevelScore
Purgatory (Repenting Believers)Very Low
Level 1 - Limbo (Virtuous Non-Believers)Very Low
Level 2 (Lustful)High
Level 3 (Gluttonous)Very High
Level 4 (Prodigal and Avaricious)Low

Level 7 (Violent)Very High
Level 8- the Malebolge (Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers)High

I've been a lot more active on Twitter and Tumblr lately, if you're looking for me.

PS: Don't forget I've got stuff up at help_japan. Head here to see my listing of offers. There's already been some bids!

Hi guys! I'm alive~

I guess part of why I'm slow to update is that there's nothing going on, activity wise. I mean, I can't imagine that you'd much enjoy me waking up and going "I played with the cats, then edited, then kicked some ass in Dofus" rinse repeat... I'm going to try and start posting more though.

--So. Let's see... David and I have been gaming at Trickster's house on Saturdays. The day might change soon, cos one of the players got a job and she doesn't know yet about her schedule, but it's been nice to more or less regularly get out of the house. There's been a smattering of drama that I won't go into, which is hopefully passing. 18 year olds, man. Just. Yeah. Right now Trickster's running a game that's kind of boring (the one we finished was awesome til he went and killed it, but that's another story, if I didn't rant about it then) and David's running a game of Divinity. Hm. I wonder if any of you even followed me when I'd talk about Andy running Divinity...

Anyway, I still wish I had a cooler (for lack of a better word) gaming group. Andy's games were always immersive. You had to signal when you were talking as a player instead of as your character, and there was a level of seriousness and focus on the adventure that really sucked you in. It helps that Andy is a good storyteller in general, too. The games at Trickster's aren't like that. I'm always surprised when I get points for "being particularly in character" or whatever that slot of points is, because I don't feel like I'm being my character(s) at all. To be fair, there's a lot of laughter -- we almost always have a good time, but that's not the same thing as having an amazing game. Which isn't to say that I want a super serious grrr-game-right-dammit group either, cos that would swing into a whole other kind of not-fun.

--What else?

The writing rut is still rut like and a thorn in my side. But I'll be posting some birthday presents soon, probably the end of the week. The rest... we'll see. :glares at muses:

--My eye appointment on Monday went really well. Because the doctor is a friend of David's mom (he's the doctor they use) they waved the fee for the optomap and I only had to pay for seeing him (and I think the drops they put in to dilate my eyes). I'm not going to complain about $70 when every other place was $200+... The scans and when he took a direct look showed nothing unusual or wrong. Woo! He said that if the stuff I was seeing got worse or continued to be disruptive, to come back.

--Hanging out with David's mom seemed to go okay too. They've got some weird ideas about me. Things like I'm only with David cos I'm looking for a father figure (which is hysterical given the way I took care of him during his breakdown). Or that I'm a slob (partially understandable, given the state of the apartment we used to live in, and the fact that "my side" was actually storage). Or that I'm spiritually shallow (...what?). I know why they think I don't like them... I really kind of hate David's father (emotional abuse and neglect for the person I'm spending the rest of my life with will piss me off that way) and his mother is such a sheep I could throttle her. But I can get on with his mom well enough, I can. She's sweet, when she's not being an all but brainwashed minister's wife.

Apparently she had a really good time on Monday. Oddly enough, she was happy to not have to debate anything, but could just talk and have a good time. She really liked my haircut too. So. Yay. I guess.

--Our couch broke. Well, ok, it was B's couch. But it was a manufacturing problem (all of it was solid wood, except one section that was layered particle board, wtf?) so it was covered by his super awesome warranty. He should have a refund in 48 hours (now that they've finally picked it up) but he won't be able to go in to a Macy's with a furniture section until next week.

Guess who it was that a) answered the door when the movers showed up way too early, b) cleaned the living room thoroughly, c) reorganized the living room so that it neither looks bare nor has seating issues for the various guests that will be showing up this week (at least Gorff and Alys)? Oh, that's right, me and David. Thanks B, really.

It was damn satisfying to complete though. And it looks pretty ok, too. Not amazing, and only having my crappy futon instead of a proper couch makes it feel very...hm. College-chic? lol ... But it'll work for now. :)

And... I think that's it for now. I'm gonna wander off and make myself some lunch. Mmmm, cold cuts...
