my computer is acting up and according to the nice IT support guy at work who took a look at it today, it's not very likely going to be worth having it repaired. which means I need a new laptop. ASAP.

You see, I live with dragons. No, really.

My laptop's name is Fuchur (German version of Falcor from NES).
My first external hard drive's name is Hyourinmaru. Yes, Hitsugaya's sword, which takes the form of an ice dragon (Bleach).
My second external hard drive is named Seiryuu. You remember Seiryuu, right?

So. I got another hard drive today (500 GB, yessssss!). Please welcome the new addition to the family, Bahamut (German version of Behemoth), King of all dragons. *grins*

Of course, the fact that I have three external hard drives amounting to over 840 GB of disk space (including my comp's drive) in itself does NOT add to the geekery. *whistles*

I still need to install some of the bigger programs such as ms office, photoshop, nero etc. since they take time, but other than that, I think I'm good.

I went to a couple of thrift stores today and finally found a kitchen table! And a pretty cheap one, too. Heh. We're going to pick it up on Monday. *beams*

I managed to catch a virus on my comp. There isn't too much file damage, thank god, but there is only one way to completely get rid of the worm and anything it might have brought with it. *SIGH*

I'm at my parents' house right now and internet is wonky as hell... we don't know why yet, but it seems that our DSL modem decides to randomly reset itself all the time....-.-
Right now it's working, so there's hope that it will stay like this for a while. *crosses fingers*

On the computer front: It turned out that I had to completely reformat my computer. Everything we tried to fix it (like de-and reinstalling certain programs etc) seemed to make it worse >.<. And yes, that would be the new computer-.- But at least it works now without a problem. So far. *cough* Time will tell.

Anyway, I am - surprise, surprise *snerk* - really busy at the moment. Homework, studying Japanese, practicing the songs I'm singing in church next week, and trying to get Christmas cards and presents ready to send out.

On completely different note, this year's fall is more than wonderful. Nice weather almost every day, exceptionally warm and nice, and the colors are stunning! ^____^ Makes me happy.

Well, after reformating the hard drive 3(!!) times it seems to run smoothly again. Fortunately, I only lost a few emails in the process. *sigh of relief* But it took so much time and energy and now I'm behind where the packing is concerned...

Talking of packing....how are 25kg supposed to be enough for ONE YEAR? *swears and rearranges things AGAIN* *sigh*

Also, I got my address in Japan yesterday. ^_____^ Anyone who wants it, please comment, and I will email it to you.

And last, but not least a ficlet I wrote some time ago... the idea spawned one day when I witnessed a rather impressive thunderstorm at work, posted about it and Lil just couldn't leave it alone ...

I will also get a new CD-ROM drive tomorrow and I have decided to reformat my harddrive before I leave. >_> I'm somewhat nervous and I really hope I won't lose anything. I have backed up all my files on an external HD. Now I really hope my brother still has the CD with photoshop on it....*whimper* Can't be without photoshop...

Someone with my email address in his or her address book seems to have caught a virus or something.

I've been getting mail-delivery failure notices all day long! From all kinds of email providers for emails I've certainly never sent!

I've checked my computer and I don't have a virus.

It was not the modem, but the connection itself.... apparently there was no back signal, for some reason I don't know. Don't really care, either. The guy came in, took a look, fiddled with the plug in.... .and now it works again.

Anyway, I'm really glad, this went over so quickly...*relieved sigh*

ok, the problems started Saturday night. My comp would suddenly tell me that there was no network cable connected to it.... the internet connection was kicking me out every 30 seconds.... Well, shit, I thought.

Took the comp to my parents' and a friend's house yesterday, hooked it up to the network.... it worked just fine. What the hell?

My guess was then that there was something wrong with the cable at home.

Got home today, hooked up the comp.... nothing happend. I couldn't even CONNECT to the internet. not even for 30 seconds.

I changed the cable (I had a spare one)....nothing.

Re-installed the software. Nothing.

Changed the ethernet cable to a USB cable.....re-installed the software. Nothing.

*insert colorful swear words here*

It must be the modem, which I've only had for two freaking months.

Called the tech support, got put on hold for I don't know how long, finally talked to someone who then told me that they would have a technician call me within the next 2 to 3 days to make an appointment to look at it. Great.

Appointment this week? Not very likely. Appointment next week? Maybe.... *aaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhh*

I'm paying a freaking lot of money for a connection I can't use. And I'm paying now for the dial-up connection I have to use in order to at least get my email. *cries* no fair....

So, yeah. you won't see me online for I don't know how long....-_-"

I had to do my taxes and I'm finally done. Just need to print it out. But no.
That stupid program I' m using just decides to set my brother's printer (which is not plugged in) as default printer and won't let me change it!!!
Gah! I don't have my own printer, so I have to use someone else's over the network we have at home...

but I can't get this to work *whines* and I need to print it out!
