Scotty had to go to Midland-my least favorite town-to replace his phone at Sprint-my least favorite company that I'm stuck doing business with.  After being thwarted two times at other Sprint stores, the Midland store had a charger in stock!  Here's to a cell phone that will charge consistently, I hope, even though it is a phone with the antichrist cell company.

In other news, the sleep study went very well. Turns out the leg med is working, I just need a mask that can handle the level of pressure I'm on. Need to call Sparrow Monday.  Big thanks to fairiegodmother for her tip to comb through my hair with conditioner in to help get the glue out.  Much less painful!

I went Bree VanDeKamp on the bathroom today, swept, mopped, scrubbed, and scrubbed, and scrubbed.  I even pulled out the washer and dryer and swept behind them (I'll mop behind them when I wash the walls in a few weeks).  The landlord was supposed to replace the toilet today, and I was too embarassed to let him see the bathroom in the shape it was in (we've let it slide the last couple weeks), so I decided to do it up right.  It smells wonderful, a nice combination of spic and span, comet, and clorox wipes.

Off to get ready for karaoke!

So I started hitting the hard stuff today.

I traded my wellbutrin for adderall.  After three+ months, I had to own that the wellbutrin was doing nothing for me.  Here's hoping the adderall actually does something.  Other than a slightly odd sensation about an hour after taking it, feeling like I might have been behaving a little coked out, it was a very positive experience today.  We'll see how I feel about it in another week or so, when I'm sure the wellbutrin is all out of my system, and the initial stimulant sensitivity has faded.

Not that I didn't take advantage of the nice stimulant effect today. I created a policy that has been on my to-do list for three weeks in less than 15 minutes and caught up a huge pile (shh, don't tell my boss) of narrative case notes.  It would be nice if that would last, but it will be nice enough to be able to focus long enough to complete a single case note before I walk away from desk, start fiddling with the computer, or switch to some other task that has been screaming for my attention.

In loosely-related news, I take my follow-up sleep study tomorrow. Shh, don't tell them that I changed a med the week of the study.  The pill is supposed to be completely out of my system 12 hours after I take it, and my sleep study starts about 15 hours after I'll take my pill tomorrow.  All I need them to assess is whether the requip has reduced my periodic leg movement.

well, enough med babble. I'm off to bed.  I'm sending a little love your way.

meds, meds, meds

Had my followup with my pcp this morning. After six weeks of tricor, my triglycerides went down 23 points.

Yup, just 23 points. Only 77 more points to go.

We talked about my sleep and inattention issues, decided to make no changes to the Requip or the Wellbutrin, but upped the Tricor to the Big Dosetm, and he finally agreed to give me some Ambien. Getting a sleep aid out of this man is like pulling teeth, but he agreed to a ten-day trial.

I feel like an old man, taking four prescription meds. I have to keep telling myself that it's only for now, as the plan is that once my sleep stabilizes, the wellbutrin shouldn't be necessary, as I expect adequate sleep to resolve the inattention issues. Also, once I'm sleeping better, I should have the energy to exercise more, which should resolve the apnea and triglyceride issues. Once I pull all that off, I will just be left with my restless leg med, which would be cool. I may even be able to come off that, as many people control their symptoms with yoga or other stretching exercises.

Better living through chemistry, I guess.
