Hannah Amy Farkas
Welcome to my website! I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. In summer 2027, I will join McMaster University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics. My fields are labor economics and environmental economics.
I completed my PhD in 2026 in Sustainable Development at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
In my job market paper, I investigate the schedule unpredictability of hourly workers in service sectors, and how this responds to minimum wage laws and extreme weather.
Prior to Columbia, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Federal Reserve Board in the Consumer Finance section. I received my BA from Johns Hopkins University in 2017, where I graduated Phi Beta Kappa. In my free time, I love hiking, baking cakes, running, and seeing live music.
Please reach out if you are interested in my research!
