What is the Handstree?
Handstree is the online community for transparent and secured charity, designed in Mariupol and based in Berlin.
Unlike the traditional crowdfunding platforms we focus on creating long-term relationships between users and social projects through direct donations, donors protection system, and increasing a transparency through social network approach with user and teams profiles, personal feed with activities and financial reports.
What fees do you charge?
We don't take any service fees from donations, that's simple.
International processing fee from payment provider Monobank is 2%.
How your team finance your activities?
The project development was financed with the support of Startup Incubator Berlin and Berlin Startup Scholarship, which is part of the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR).
The scholarship is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) as well as the State of Berlin (Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises).
How you verify nonprofit teams?
We require social projects to provide information about their goals, a description of their initiative, details about team members, and references from individuals who have had positive experiences with the project.
Additionally, we:
- Validate the founder's identity through Monobank's customers verification
- Conduct an interview/conversation with the founder
- Analyze available information about the founders and the social project
- Verify official registration through open state registers
How direct donations works?
To donate, simply choose a project from our search results or home page, select the amount, and click Donate. You will be redirected to the Monobank Jar payment processing page.
Monobank Jar is an account for collecting and raising donations, established by the Ukrainian bank Monobank. Most charities and nonprofits in Ukraine use Monobank for fundraising purposes.
Donations can be made using your bank card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. You don't need to be a Monobank customer to contribute. International processing fee from Monobank is 2%.
What is the donors protection system?
A donors protection system based on internal ranking evaluates nonprofits and charities by looking at their online activity, how regularly they share financial reports, and the number of user complaints. If an organization gets a poor ranking, it will be removed from search results and donation options.
With this system, donors can easily find and support trustworthy nonprofits and charities, knowing their contributions are making a real impact. This approach helps build trust and confidence in the charities featured on our platform.

How long does the verification process take?
After verification and interview with the social project - no more than 5 working days.
If a social project does not partially meet Handstree's criteria, it can take a break and return to register on the platform when it is ready. We provide a report with recommendations on what needs to be changed or corrected in the application form.
