
Jassim Al Suwaidi
Jassim Al Suwaidi, studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland during which he received multiple awards including Evatt Memorial Medal First Place, Anatomy, Stoney Memorial Medal First Place, Anatomy, Silver Medal First Place Psychology, Silver Medal First Place Pathology, Quinn Prize First Place Ophthalmology and graduated with honors degrees with the O’Donnell’s Prize in Surgery in 1991.
Dr Al Suwaidi pursued his post-graduate studies at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, MN, USA between 1993 and 2000 where he completed internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology training and became subsequently American Board Certified in these three specialties. Dr Al Suwaidi was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award in Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic in 2000.
Dr Al Suwaidi academic pursuit initially was focused on coronary endothelial function and interventional where he published more than 25 publications in some of the most prestigious cardiology and internal medicine journals when he was fellow at the Mayo Clinic. Since joining Hamad Medical Corporation in 2000 he continued his interest in cardiovascular research, which included research in cardiovascular epidemiology, Middle Eastern cardiovascular registries which resulted in multiple publications. To date Dr Al Suwaidi has more than 120 Medline publications in addition to other contributions including book chapters, abstracts etc and presented research work over the years at multiple international cardiovascular conferences. Dr Al Suwaidi is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.
