After the events of S1 and before Oluwande picks up the spyglass, Stede desperately searches the sea trying to find Ed again. The difficulty of rowing the dinghy all day, high seas, and worry about leaving Ed on the dock weighs heavily on Stede. When he falls overboard and meets a siren, he pleads with her for assistance. The siren doesn’t take kindly to Stede. Without a moment for negotiation, she sets the wheels in motion to reunite Stede with Ed. Unbeknownst to Stede, there may be a steep price for her assistance. Upon discovery of this price, Stede leaves the Revenge with a couple trusted members of his crew. They travel to Barbados to seek Mary’s help. Suffering from the discomfort of pregnancy, Stede learns a lot about the facts of life and makes apologies for the neglectful way he treated Mary when she was expecting. He reunites with Ed in the Republic of Pirates, where he hopes one of Roach’s friends can offer a solution. But the siren intervenes yet again and sets Stede on a different path toward a future with his beloved Ed.
