Computational Robotics and Manufacturing Lab (CRML) is lead by Dr. Guoxin FANG, assistant professor at Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
We explores the intersection of computational science and engineering innovation. Through geometry computing, physical modeling, and AI, we develop transformative technologies for robotics, advanced manufacturing, and smart systems. We engaged in several cutting-edge research area include:
1) Robotic multi-axis spatial additive manufacturing;
2) Soft robot: main focus on modeling and perception & proprioception;
3) Personalized (multi)-functional wearable devices: computational design and digital manufacturing.

[Dec, 2025] CRML group join the SIGGRAPH Asia 2025 in Hong Kong, and received best technical paper award for the work of multi-axis DLP. Congrats to the team!

[Oct, 2025] CRML group join the IEEE/RSJ IROS 2025 in Hangzhou, present 3 poster in the topics of computer vision, soft robotics, and motion planning. Lab PI, Dr. FANG was invited to give a talk at “How can Computational and Numerical Modeling Enable the Next Generation of Soft Robots?”.
[Sept, 2025] Two papers, "INF-3DP: Implicit Neural Fields for Collision-Free Multi-Axis 3D Printing", and "Curve-based slicer for multi-axis DLP 3D printing" have been accepted by ACM Transactions on Graphics, big congrats to the team! Both work will be open-source and presented at SIGGRAPH Asia 2025 conference.
[Sept, 2025] CRML group join the TCT Asia 3D printing exhibition in Shenzhen [Group photos].
[Aug, 2025] Lab PI, Dr. FANG visit the National University of Singapore Advanced Robotics Centre (NUS-ARC) and give a talk titled "Geometry-oriented design, modeling, and sensor-based control for soft robots", and visit Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUDT) and give a talk titled "Multi-axis 3D printing: advanced high-DOF manufacturing empowered by geometry computing".

[Oct 16, 2023] Dr. Guoxin FANG joined CUHK as faculty member and establish Computational Robotics and Manufacturing Lab (CRML) at the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE).
