Email Settings

If your notification emails need to look right and land reliably, Email settings is where you choose the active provider, sender identity, and the shared wrappers that apply across forms.

Where to Find It

Navigation path: WordPress Admin -> GriffinForms -> Settings -> Mail

Provider credentials are configured in Integrations. This page selects the active provider and global sender/header/footer values.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Open Settings -> Mail.
  2. Set Sender Name and Sender Email.
  3. Select Mailing System (server_mail, SMTP, SendGrid, or another configured provider).
  4. Add optional Email Headers (one header per line).
  5. Add optional Custom Header and Custom Footer HTML/text wrappers.
  6. Save settings.
  7. Submit a real test form and confirm delivery in your inbox/spam folder.

Expected Results After Save

  • The selected mailing provider becomes the global delivery route.
  • Providers not configured in Integrations stay disabled and are shown as Not configured.
  • Outgoing messages use the saved sender name/email and shared header/footer wrapper content.

Common Failure Modes and Quick Checks

  • Provider cannot be selected: open Integrations and complete provider credentials first.
  • Save fails on sender fields: confirm sender name is not empty and sender email is valid.
  • No mail delivered: run a real submission test, check spam, and verify provider-specific credentials/API keys.
  • Unexpected email formatting: inspect custom header/footer and remove broken markup.

Next steps

To verify the provider itself, continue with Integrations UI and, if you use Mailgun, Mailgun integration. If messages are still failing after save, share the provider name and a test result in WordPress.org support.
