Graphics Interface ’83 followed in the footsteps of the previous eight Canadian Man-Computer Communications Conferences and GI ’82. In addition to the two major societies with interests in Computer Graphics, CMCCS and NCGA (National Computer Graphics Association of Canada), the 1983 conference was joined by the Canadian Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society (CIPPRS). Established in the 1970s, CIPPRS’s key annual activity has been the sponsorship of the Canadian Conference on Computer and Robot Vision (CRV), formerly known as Vision Interface (VI). CRV (and previously VI) have a tradition of being co-located with Graphics Interface. This year’s conference accepted 56 papers for presentation, and added a trade show highlighting the latest in computer graphics equipment.
